Guest guest
Jewelry Cleaner 1 part ammonia 1 part boiling water 1 small squirt liquid dishwashing detergent Mix together and let jewelry soak several hours or overnight. Just remove and scrub gently with a soft toothbrush. http://www.cyber-kitchen.com/ubbs/archive/HOME_REMEDIES/Jewelry_Cleaner.html ***
Guest guest
Soaking silver ( jewelry, dinnerware etc ) in a dish of warm water , baking soda and a few balls of aluminum foil will float the tarnish right to the top. ( skim the tarnish off before you bring the silver back up thru it! )

That sounds exactly what I am looking for....been trying to find a non-toxic way to clean my silver jewellery for a while now. Thanks! Guest guest
LOL I never measured anything. I use a large pan, usually corningware or something ceramic. Line the bottem of it with the silver to be cleaned, fill the pan with very warm watter, dump in about half a cup of baking soda, and wad up several balls of aluminum foil. What makes it work is the chemical reaction from the silver and the aluminum. Baking soda is a " lifter," often used in grease removal in laundry and dishes. You might want to use a toothbrush with extra baking soda to scrub with. Use cool water for a final rinse. You may have to do it more than once if the tarnish is bad.
