Peace Pilgrim Day 36 Todays Stress Buster Stop and Release Tension When faced with stress, stop for a moment to clear your mind of unpleasant thoughts. Close your eyes. Breathe in, expanding the belly and counting 1-2-3-4-5: exhale, slowly contracting the belly and counting to five. Repeat at least three times, spreading life giving oxygen throughout your body. In the end you will still be facing the same situation but your outlook will be clearer. Todays Yummy Soother Citrus Cranberry Smoothie 1 32 oz. This amendment promises equal protection and due process of the law. Some-times equal protection and justice, though promised, is not granted, so we need extra help from the domain of the spirit. This is a great time to engage the herb beloved by Hoodoos called Little John. Little John (Alpina galanga), also called galangal, is the herbal friend to fairness and justice in legal proceedings. Here are a few ways Little John can be used as a chew or charm in spell work. Put a cleaned piece of Little John into your mouth. Chew it until soft. Try not to swallow. If you are supporting a court case or are on trial, spit the Little John fluid outside the courthouse. If you want good outcomes to legal proceedings by mail, spit the Little John juice near your post box. If you want a lawsuit you've been informed of by mail to end peacefully, spit on the envelope and bury it at the crossroads or on your personal property. To influence the court in a generally positive way, keep Little John on your person inside a red mojo bag, along with some calendula flowers, deer's tongue, and oregano. But courage goes on to see that the triumph of life is not in pains avoided, but in joys lived completely in the moment of their happening. Courage lies in never taking so much as a good meal or a day of health and fair weather for granted. It lies in learning to be aware of our moments of happiness as sharply as our moments of pain. We need not be afraid to weep when we have cause to weep, so long as we can really rejoice at every cause for rejoicing. Victoria Lincoln One of the things that I really appreciate about Lance Armstrong as an athlete is his down-to-earth practicality and his willingness to face the fact that anything can happen to him on any given day. Even though he was heavily favored to win the Tour de France for the sixth time, he was very realistic about the reality that just one crash could put him out of contention for the victory, and that just because he was favored to win again, he wasn't immune from crashing and losing his favored position. Even more importantly, he was very straightforward in saying that even if he didn't win, it wouldn't be the end of the world. A great disappointment, perhaps, but nothing that would ruin him or take away his love of life. Of course, as a cancer survivor, his perspective on life has to have changed considerably. He knows in a way that most of us never will know what it means to survive a life-threatening situation. He knows that he can't take life or living for granted, and that he must be aware of the beauty and wonder of life if it's to mean anything to him. We will have the down times. We will face pain and suffering in our lives. Being happy isn't a question of avoiding pain--which most of us spend much of our time trying to do--but in dealing with that pain and learning from it and moving on with our lives so that we can become inspirations to others who may look to us for inspiration. Our lives are filled with wonderful moments, sometimes exciting wonderful moments, sometimes peaceful, quiet wonderful moments. Even some of our painful times are wonderful moments, for they help us to learn to appreciate the times that aren't painful, the days of health and fair weather.
