Guest guest
The store across the street from me has jacked their prices on dishwashing soap by 250 % in the last 2 years. They are blaming it on gas prices. The Dollar store 3 miles away doesn't seem to have this problem , but I am on foot most of the time. Does anyone know of a kinder , gentler soap I can use or make for cheaper, that is safe, and maybe even more environmentally friendly ? Thanks ! Guest guest
Here's a recipe that I found online to make your own. Kelly Homemade Dish Soap Ingredients 1/4 cup soap flakes 2 cups hot water 1/4 cup glycerin Directions Combine soap flakes in water in a bowl and stir until the soap is dissolved. Stir in glycerin, let cool. Blend well and store. Ivory Liquid has been reformulated as a clear, liquid detergent. And,Ivory Snow (flakes or powder) is no longer soap. It became a detergent in 1991, I believe. Ivory bar soap is the only Ivory product that is still actually soap. I grate Ivory bar soap on a vegetable grater or, in the Cuisinart, to make this. You can still buy soap flakes in bulk, but it can be pricey with the S/H. If you're making this and other cleaning products in quantity, it's worth it. My grandmother used Ivory liquid and I love the smell of it, so I use Ivory bar soap to make mine. You can use a few drops of any essential oil or extract to scent to your preference though. Liquid glycerin is sold at Kmart, and Walmart's Pharmacy will special order it for you for roughly $18. a gallon. You can experiment to find what works best with your water. Use more soap flakes, leave out the glycerin, add a couple tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar, add a little borax and/or washing soda... Get on board. You're invited to try the new Mail Beta.
