Guest guest
Hi Gea, I haven't used infused vanilla in M & P soap, so I'm not going to advise on how to do that .. but I'll tell you - to save that batch of M & P you're afraid was ruined .. just add more of the M & P base to it .. I'm SURE you'll be able to save it *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Hi all, I infused vanilla in jojoba- smelled great and I used some in cream- no problems its wonderful. BUT I put it in soap- M & P and it never hardened, I remelted and added beeswax still didn't harden completely, smelled great but its garbage:( How or can I use infused vanilla bean in M & P soap? Thank-you Gea
Guest guest
In M & P soap the norm for adding any Carrier oil (jojoba, apricot kernel, avocado, etc.) and/or butters (shea, cocoa, mango, etc.) should be a total of around 1 tablespoon per pound of soap. Any more and the M & P soap may not harden or will not lather very well. Do not throw it away if you added way to much oil. Experiment with it. If it lathers or if it doesn't add some liquid soap (castile) and make a bath scrub (sugar, brown sugar, or a salt scrub). And if it lathers put it in jars and call it Bath Pudding. Just a few suggestions hope they help. Gail Gea <theimage wrote: I infused vanilla in jojoba- smelled great and I used some in cream- no problems its wonderful. Guest guest
I attended a soap making class and now I have a huge block of lavender colored soap with lavender essential oil in it. Does anyone know of any stamps I can get to put into the soap? Alysyn, the soapmaker, said that it will be soft enough to press a design into it. I have a rubber stamp of my house that I could probably find a way to make it into a metal stamp. But to use that loaf mold, yeah, you'll want to line it with something like a plastic bag. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Hi Gea, Yes, you can use it for MP soap. You will need to line it with wax paper or freezer paper, just like you would for Cold Process soap. Although, I think you'd be happier using something other than a " loaf mold " for your MP soap. Guest guest
Hi Jan, I saw somebody on some list made a soap stamp out of Sculpey clay (a.k.a. polymer or FIMO clay) .. just an idea *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Oaklandplants [Oaklandplants] I attended a soap making class and now I have a huge block of lavender colored soap with lavender essential oil in it. Guest guest
It will be soft enough now, but after it has cured it might not be. You might try your stamps. You can also order soap stamps online. I don't use them, so don't know of any but just do a search for soap stamps. I know they are there. Anita in TX
Guest guest
Hi there List mom here Does anyone have any idea what I can add to my soap to make it harder? I love my formula, it's just a bit soft. Isn't there an additive of some sort that I can use to make it harder? Guest guest
Propylene Glycol Propylene Glycol A humectant. Adds to firmness & soap stability and structure. Also a remelting solvent used in melt & pour soap. http://www.bittercreek.net/soap.html - Jose and Diana Sunday, April 23, 2006 11:28 PM Soap Question Hi there List mom here Does anyone have any idea what I can add to my soap to make it harder? Guest guest
Your oils make the soap hard or soft, but if you absolutely don't want to change your formula, try adding a little salt to your recipe. About 1/2 to 1 tbs per pound of oils.
