Hey, sorry about your bout with PMS so early...I'm no expert, but I take Black Cohosh to help with the hot flashes. I also increased my soy intake..it seems to work for me. There is another Vitamin you can buy at Walmart to take with the Black Cohosh, but I can't seem to remember the name! lol...I'm sure someone else will have a better answer.. Hope you get to feeling "norm" again Angela There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.-Edith Wharton

So is my husband. When he married a 33 yo he prob thought he had a quite a few years before menopause, but my body said otherwise and a year later it started. Now I am in full-blown menopause at 35. Irregular periods and all. I take estroven which has and it has worked wonderful. I was absolutely miserable and just steadily getting worse when I found it. I actually take it twice a day though instead of once. That is I take one pill twice a day. In fact when I looked at the website to give you that insert so you would know all the ingredients, I saw they have another product called Estroven PM that they are giving away free trials of. I say if it

is free, I will try it. Just thought you would like to know. Maybe add St John's Wort to whatever you take. It is known for its anti-depressant effects. also from what happened to me get your thyroid checked out, mine quit and the symptoms were weight gain, irregular cycles, (heavy, then light, sometimes not at all) dry skin, nails brittle, cranky, crying, (like when I was pregnant), hot flashes etc, if your thyroid is gone then don't take soy with 4 hours of taking the hormone synthroid , it interferes with it. black cohosh does help and so does exercise, I walk 2-3 miles 5 days a week, and most of all remember it is a cycle of life, now you are entering the crone phase of your life, enjoy it, MaryMystikalMom <mystikalmom2003 wrote: Hey, sorry about your bout with PMS so early...I'm no expert, but I take Black Cohosh to help with the hot flashes. http://www.drweil.com/u/DT/DailyTip3164/ 2006-04-12 Daily TipHerbs for HRT With the potential health risks of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) still making headlines, many women are turning to black cohosh for relief from menopausal symptoms. Used in Europe for more than 40 years, this herb may help moderate hot flashes, mood swings and insomnia, and has proven to be effective in several studies. For relief of menopausal symptoms, especially hot flashes, begin taking 20 mg twice a day for six weeks, then try increasing the dose to 40 mg twice per day if hot flashes do not improve. Be aware that women with a history of breast cancer may want to pass on black cohosh, as studies have shown mixed results about its effects on breast tissue. Consult with

your physician before taking this herb, and visit the Health Centers on DrWeil.com for more information on Women's Health. mary colfer <Kitrina98 wrote: also from what happened to me get your thyroid checked out, mine quit and the symptoms were weight gain, irregular cycles, (heavy, then light, sometimes not at all) dry skin, nails brittle, cranky, crying, (like when I was pregnant), hot flashes etc, if your thyroid is gone then don't take soy with 4 hours of taking the hormone synthroid , it interferes with it. black cohosh does help and so does exercise, I walk 2-3 miles 5 days a week, and most of all remember it is a cycle of life, now you are entering the crone phase of your life, enjoy it, MaryMystikalMom

I don't like it either. I am 35yo and a crone. So endometriosis causes early onset menopause. Wow. They said mine was extremely severe. Now I know atleast one part of it. I recommended the St John's Wort. I know it helps with depression. Does it help with mood swings? I do not take because I am not depressed. Well maybe I am on my way. I can't stand to be touched anymore. I feel so tense all over my body most of the time. When I am not, I try to snuggle my son as much as I can. My husband is not so lucky. He is too hot, and I become psychotic almost when he touches me. Does this sound like anybody else? I am so worried I am losing my mind some times. I know the mood swings can be bad, like wanting to rip off my hubby's head, or the crying at the drop of a hat but it does get better, I am taking St. Johns wort it seems to be helping, wear sunscreen and sunglasses for the photo sensitivity. Sometimes not wanting to be touched can be an under lying problem that is manifesting its self as that, counseling can help or talking with a good friend helps too. Damiana helps get you in mood for snuggling with hubby. Here is an herbal hormone formula that helps some women. My interpretation of Crone is someone you go to for advise, help and unconditional love, AKA your favorite Grandmother. Mary This recipe uses the roots of the herbs, get the powdered form of the roots so you can use them in capsules, use the 00 capsules. Mix 1

tablespoon of each of the following herbs, black cohosh, wild yam root, chamomile flowers, licorice root, motherwort herb, skullcap herb, and valerian root, Mix them together in a food processor and fill the capsules with the mixture, take 2 capsules three times daily until symptoms abate, then take 2 capsules daily, this is from Jude's herbal home remedies book, it is an awesome book Valerian is used because it is a great sedative and helps to calm the whole system, it is what they used to make Valium from before they synthesized it, Black Cohosh contains estrogen-like properties and is a muscle relaxant, It soothes nerves and general restlessness. Chamomile is used because it acts as a sedative and does have properties that will ease cramps and other gastrointestinal disorders, Motherwort strengthens the nerve system and is a tonic for the whole body. It helps those who are prone to

headaches and helps relieve menstrual discomforts if you still have them Wild Yam is reported to contain an estrogen-like molecule (diosgenin). When this molecule enters the body, it is treated and reacted to as an estrogen molecule by the body. This is why is is necessary to take a daily does after you have reached menopause. Licorice root also has estrogen-like properties and is included for that reason. It also nourishes the adrenal glands. Skullcap is included because it is a great nervine and helps with sleep disorders and headaches. Cerdwin

I do not have a grandmother, and my stepmother never went through menopause. She had a TAH at 30 then a BSO at 40 and was put on HRT at that time. She was slowly taken off them, so never had thses psychotic symptoms. That is why I am asking you all these questions. Sorry I will drop them now. I am sure the one who started asking them has her answers since I can answer most medical questions anybody asks. Thanks for the help and pointing me in another direction. Hey " TP " , just thought I'd add my two bits:

If I were you, I'd check out Susun Weed's website

( " www.susunweed.com " ) for lots of alternatives for women not

wanting to go the 'chemical' route during menopause. She has lots

of interesting ideas. If you can get a hold of her book on

menopause, it's awesome. Just very interesting to read, and you

realize there are many things you can do besides what your doctor

might recommend.

As for a remedy for the " crazies " as I like to call them (crying

fits, nerves, general grumpiness, feeling " on edge " , etc....)while

getting my period, I like to take Motherwort tincture drops under

the tongue when I feel like I'm about to explode. It relieves it a

bit, and I can generally take a deep breath and relax. As I

remember, Susun Weed recommends it for menopausal women for that

very reason also. I also remember something about drinking garden

sage tea for relieving stretched nerves too....relaxes you

naturally. Also purportedly dries up the night-sweats too.

Anyhoo...I'd recommend getting on her site regardless. Tons of

info, and super interesting. Read a bit on it, and then decide if

you wanna take antidepressants. You may still want to, but you

never know....you might find something better!

Sorry about the long post! Hope that helps some.....

I heard there is another cycle between mother and crone. I can't quite remember what it is, but it did have something to do with being a Goddess.
