Guest guest
About six weeks ago, I was riding in a car that got hit by another car. The impact wasn't hard enough to make the air bags deploy, but it spun the car around about 50 degrees. I never moved from my position on the seat, and thought that I hadn't been hurt at all. The next morning, however, my neck was stiff and sore, and is still a little sore. About a week after the accident, my bowels became pluged. I usually have very loose bowels, so this is a new experience for me. I have tried things I usually stay away from, because they always have given me the runs, such as red beats, etc. I am been reduced to eating very skimpy meals, and we are massaging, and trying this and that, but there seems to be no end to the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? John Garber>> Almost sounds like a "torsion" that horses get (can't take surgery, have to be shot). I recollect that Elvis Prestly had a twisted bowel and surgery to repair. But let's think in terms less radical. If you had a torsion, you likely would have bloated up --gas or stools could not pass-- and would have soon been in severe pain. So...possibly it induced Irritable Bowel Syndrome that had been slowlying coming on you. Or possibly it created an internal hemorrhoid just inside your rectum/anus. Can you pass gas? Are your stools dry and constipated or are they runny and wet? Are you bloated? You might call around various colon doctors and ask this: do you do an In-Office sigmoid scope exam, how much do you charge? If you can get it done in HIS OFFICE, it should be about $300 bucks. If the doctor's policy is only to do this in a hospital, then it will be $3,000 bucks. So...call around and ask questions, get your best price. .. Guest guest
John, Had rather similar experience 34 years ago. Rear-ended at low speed around 15-20 mph early one evening and felt ok right after the collision until the next morning when I felt so sore and stiff from neck to pelvis that I could not get out of bed. Whip lash! Neck and back all screwed up. Friends taught me stretching exercises and yoga which helped immensely and now have no problem. Massage is great too! Hot baths are terrific as well. Hot showers if no time for baths. Take time to relax since the accident was a physical and emotional trauma to your system, that's why your bowels might be acting sluggish. You need to relax and refresh your body. Be happy to be alive having survived a potentially serious car accident. You're lucky the accident was not a lot worse and so thank your lucky stars you escaped without broken bones, skull fractures, damaged organs, missing body parts, and extended stay in hospital intensive care. Be thankful your trauma and injuries were mild compared to many accidents. I suspect as you relax and release the trauma of the accident from your system that your bowels will become more regular in time. Trauma effects us in strange ways we least expect. Enjoy your meals and eat slowly to tell your body it's ok. It's possible the whip lash has effected a nerve bundle in the back area associated with digestion and bowel function. Hot baths, massage, etc. will help it return to normal. Neil At 5:24 AM +0000 3/15/07, John Garber wrote: About six weeks ago, I was riding in a car that got hit by another car. Guest guest
Hi John: I'd recommend a diagnostic visit to a chiropractor to ascertain whether some of your vertebrae were subluxated in the accident. You got spun so the torque might have rearranged you. But, as well, you might try, everyday for about a week to get up earlier in the morning and give yourself what I call an oral enema. Try to drink up to a half gallon of water (it won't demineralize you as it will come right back out in this quantity). You will urinate a lot, and you will get runs, it cleans you from top down. If you are not accustomed to drinking a large amount of water you might have to work up to that amount. Start off with just as much as you can drink quickly. When I started doing this stuff, all I could handle was a little more than a quart. You get belly distension, runs (for about 45 minutes), and copious urination. But this all by itself does flush and clean things out. Hope that that helps and that there is nothing seriously wrong. Guest guest
2 to 3 teaspoons/1 tablespoon of uniodized sea salt with 1 quart of room temp spring water should do the job but do it on an empty stomach and when you don't have to go anywhere for the next 3 hours or more, it's part of the Master Cleanser's internal bath cleanser~ http://curezone.com/faq/q.asp?a=13,1787,2835 & q=10 try your best to drink it all down right there at the sink and wait for about an hour, walk around to stimulate the fluid~ Hempress ---- John Garber 03/14/07 22:26:08 Stopped up bowels About six weeks ago, I was riding in a car that got hit by another car. Guest guest
Thank you much for the helpful comments I got from Niel, Jazzi, Jerry, and Ed. Before I realized what was happening, my gut was rather distended, and I was in a lot of pain. (After all that pain, " shooting the horse " sounded kinda good.) I had always had very loose bowels, until this. Even now, the stool is very lose, it just doesn't want to move without massaging and a radical diet change. Laxatives don't seem to help a bit. I saw a naturopath, and a massage therapist. It was only a few days ago that I connected the gut problem with the accident. The naturopath had adjusted my back weeks ago, so that was likely part of the symptoms mentioned. If anyone has any more ideas, it would be appreciated. John Garber PS. In the middle of all this, I have suddenly had to replumb the whole house! So no bath for me today!
Guest guest
A few suggestions" Lots of Vitamin C - 1000 mgs every hour until you start going to the bathroom and then stop. Magnesium Citrate and Activated Charcoal before bedtime - usually by morning you should be able to go. The other suggestion is Castro Oil packs - I would buy the organic one, and you pour in on cotton cloths, to soak up and place on your stomach area, wrap plastic wrap on your stomach area, place a heating pad on that area and it should absorb. Do this in the evening and morning should bring results. Have you been to see a chiropractor, maybe something in your spine is messed up causing your bowels to clog up.AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Thank you Blessings, and Deanne. I have been doing the castor oil packs. I've been taking Vit C, but not that much or often. Thanks again for all the other suggestings. John Garber

Guest guest
It turns out that the problem was pinched nerves in my neck! The nerves the brain uses to tell the bowels to move things along. For two months they had been working on my bowels, back, etc. and said the pain in my neck could wait until I get the other stuff working. Here all along, it was my neck problem causing everything else! I had been riding in a car that was hit and twisted suddenly 50 degrees to the left. At the time, I felt no pain. It the next day that my neck started hearting and a week later, my bowels quit moving. For two months, I suffered before we made the connection that it was because of the accident and another week before we found out that the neck problem was the point of troubles. Now at last, no more pain, things are beginning to move normally, and I am regaining my strength! John Garber
Guest guest
Didn't your chiropractor do diagnostics on your whole vertebral column? If I might ask, how was it discovered when previously missed? You change doctors perhaps? ed - John Garber Friday, March 30, 2007 3:30 PM Re: Stopped up Bowels It turns out that the problem was pinched nerves in my neck! Guest guest
I will try to answer both ed and Jazzi. I first went to a therapist who is usually very good. It was he who thought the neck could wait until the other stuff was taken care of. He usually dosn't goof like that. So then when I went to my naturopath, I didn't even tell him about my neck. This naturopath is uaually very good (he has saved my life several times) It wasn't until I mentioned my neck, that he made that connection. I don't know why he didn't do a whole vertebral column, I guess he was concentrating on my stomach and lower back. I don't remember which nerve was pinched, and it may be a week or so till I find out. John Garber Didn't your chiropractor do diagnostics on your whole vertebral column?
