Guest guest
This article gives you a good reason to drink red wine. Its for the good of your health. However, don't overdo. Anything overdo will have its adverse effect; consume in moderation. Wishing everyone good health. Results of various studies have indicated that daily consumption of three to five glasses of red wine reduced all-cause mortality by an amazing 49% compared to non-drinkers, which is great news for antiaging aficionados. Now, this may sound great and it is, but greater results can be achieved more easily. The reason that the red wine works in anti-aging is because it's a great source of resveratrol. Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Aging report that a natural substance found in red wine, known as resveratrol, offsets the bad effects of a high-calorie diet in mice and significantly extends their lifespan. The resveratrol supplements generally contain a potent combination of nutrients high in antioxidants. An article was published in the November 2006 edition of the prestigious science journal Nature. Researchers from Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Aging reported on a study performed in mice given resveratrol. Guest guest
Hey, I think a wine glass is 5 oz, isn't it? Five glasses would be about a bottle. Drunk. A 4 oz half-glass is a milk tumbler. Guest guest
I was equally surprised when I read that article. I guess it doesn't mean a full glass? For myself, i drink red wine only occasionally. , " Duncan Crow " <duncancrow wrote: > > Hey, I think a wine glass is 5 oz, isn't it? Five glasses would be > about a bottle. Guest guest
Well I've noticed that they're trying to tell us that all sorts of non-foods are good for us now. Wine, coffee, chocolate. They even reported about a year and a half ago that coffee has the highest amount of antioxidants than any other food. Then it was discovered that people weren't eating fruits and vegetables, so coffee was the highest source of antioxidants for them indeed. That doesn't make coffee a good thing. Chocolate is very harmful for most people, and anyone who has studied pathology knows that just about all pathological processes the body can undergo are vastly hastened by alcohol and nicotine. So they couldn't get us to eat 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables and they're trying a whole new psychology on us. Don't worry be happy! A wine distributor told me a bottle of wine equals four glasses. She said the bottle must be drunk within two days of being opened. She was appalled that it takes me six months to finish a bottle, unless we share it with guests. I'm not convinced about any of this. Guest guest
Just like Green Tea. It has huge amount of fluoride. Not sure if the anti-oxidants outweigh the fluoride risk. --- kotheimerdc <kotheimerdc wrote: > Well I've noticed that they're trying to tell us that all sorts of > non-foods are good for us now. Guest guest
Does anyone know someone that can tell me how much of good thing, and how much of a bad thing, I can ingest, without it becoming harmful to me? Nearly nothing is "good" or "bad" for us, when we use it in the right amount; and I mean by that, the right amount for "you," in "your" circumstances. We have so much to learn, that we need to be patient with others and with ourselves. I do think it wise to consume a maxmum of 1 glass of wine a day. If you drink a lot more, you're on your own. I happen to think that, about 1 oz. of chocolate, and 1 cup of coffee. We just need to balance our need for pleasure with our need for good health, and never cease to look for ways of enjoying our pleasures with ever less harm to ourselves; like learning to drink wine at the best times, say, in the evening when we've already nourished ourselves with the foods and nutrients our bodies desperately need to remain healthy. Or, learning to enjoy an oz. of chocolate more because we're always looking out for ways of reducing the sugar content, and increasing the antioxidant content of this treat. Or enjoying our coffee "black," and sugarless, because we've looked for coffees that are so delicious without enhancements. We can also explore the various nutritional ways that we can protect our bodies from these indulgences, by consuming appropriate supplements, etc. jp - kotheimerdc Friday, January 26, 2007 6:48 PM Re: Is Anti-Aging Action In Red Wine And Resveratrol Real?
