To help reduce your risk of some types of cancer, try the following: Avoid polyunsaturated vegetable oils, margarine, vegetable shortening, all partially hydrogenated oils, and all foods that might contain trans-fatty acids (such as deep-fried foods). Increase omega-3 fatty acids by eating more cold water oily fish, freshly ground flaxseeds, and walnuts. Reduce consumption of animal foods and try to replace them with vegetable proteins such as soy. Use hormone-free, organically produced products whenever possible. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat shiitake, enokidake, maitake, and oyster mushrooms frequently. Drink green tea daily. Guest guest
In this particular article one reads "use hormone free...." and yet the protein that is promoted is soy, which certainly interplays with one's own hormones. A far better protein, vegetable source would be spirulina and chlorella. Its a whole protein, and NOT junk from some manufacturing source. Much of the normal nutrition in vegetables is also present in these. I've never read anything adverse to using them, except perhaps their cost. But that cost, compared to the cost of soy protein which is only low because it is a waste product, is minimal when considering what using soy protein does in the body, or rather, can do. - Rocky Ward rachelleward2 Saturday, December 30, 2006 8:48 AM A Cancer-Protective Diet http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/TIP02190 A Cancer-Protective Diet A healthy diet can help the body in its efforts to heal itself, and in some cases, particular foods can strengthen the immune system and lessen the risks of serious illness.
