Guest guest
I know - the evil in this world, and how human beings can act so savagely toward innocent creatures, is beyond my understanding. But yet it continues and even escalates. Guest guest
Jorge, I have nothing specifically against Australia, by any means. And I'm not someone just 'climbing on a bandwagon' - I have been a strong supporter of animal welfare since the very early 80's, and a vegan since June of 1989. What I said about the evil in this world, which certainly includes animal cruelty of ALL sorts, I meant wholeheartedly. Tricia - Jorge Roshkov Wednesday, December 27, 2006 4:34 AM !Re: Re: In a Shocking New Video, Pink Calls for a Boycott of Australian Wool Tricia, I do not know where you are based, but I live in Australia, I have owned farms and sheep in Australia, and I have experienced the terrible suffering that sheep in Australia undergo when they are "fly-struck" in the Spring/summer months due to sweating in the folds of their skin, and droppings and urine moistening the wool. As for 'live exports', why are there not boycotts on the way that these countries like Israel kill their livestock, and all the way throughout Asia, the Middle East, and even Europe... not to mention the USA. For goodness sake - the millions that the USA spent pouring into regimes and backpockets, whilst subsidising their own farmers, and when our wheat board 'played the game' and put a coule of dollars into the right pockets, the 'righteous US Senators ' claimed foul........, because WE had the wheat contract. I am getting tired of people bucketing Australia, and now for some goose who has never been on a farm and experienced ALL the story to ,pristinely call for boycotts is a bit bloody rich, especially when those who know NOTHING of the practices carried out, and WHY, support this without question! Surely we as a race have 'evolved' to a level where we do a bit of homework FIRST before climbing on bandwagons ... regardless of how glitzy they may appear. Guest guest
Interesting, Tricia, because in Genesis Chapter 9, verse 3, the following comes to light, after the flood, and Noah and his sons getting blessed by God, with the following instruction..... "Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things." This is in stark contrast to the instruction given prior to the flood ........ which makes for interesting speculation over what happened to change our digestive system from ruminant to carnivore [should I say omnivore] ...... Seems pretty clear to me, that apart from the admonition to not consume blood [[verse 4], there was a pretty carte blanche OK given straight after the flood...... So I cannot understand vegetarians - even more vegans being scripturally correct. All that aside, to imply that a farmer is not interested in 'animal welfare' is a bit strong, and I cannot see why more is not made of whaling, for instance, or lot feeding, but specific areas such as the wool growing is........... Anyway, I have found that most involved in 'animal welfare'' do so from long range, and rarely if ever have had hands-on experience with the relevant lifestyle. That said, does anyone know how the oil from a vegetable - a carbohydrate, becomes an aromatic inorganic hydrocarbon as in crude oil????
