Guest guest
http://www.truthinlabeling.org/hiddensources.html This link is to a list of MSG containing products. whey is prominently listed . it may acquire the MSG in the processing. I would suggest one regard any whey as suspect . The dairy industry will not sleep untill it unloads every ton of this stuff . Watch out much of it is hidden like MSG. Get your MSG education now. Guest guest
Billy, lots of foods contain traces of toxins or inflammatory substances. Studies and practice show undenatured whey is an ANTI- inflammatory when used in-vivo because it is such a pronounced glutathione increaser. The mechanism of undenatured whey being antiinflammatory is that the glutathione created not only suppresses the Th2 skewed inflammatory response, which makes it an immunomodulator that reduces inflammation, it directly quenches free radical damage which is a large component in inflammation, and it is the liver's and all the cells' main support in toxin breakdown. Here's that link again to arthritis and inflammation: http://tinyurl.com/ybolud Once you start looking it up you'll see that undenatured whey being inflammatory is NOT an issue. I have many other similar links on its anti-inflammatory action, and I have used it to reduce or eliminate asthma and COPD inflammation of the lungs. Perhaps I should stress here that there is a difference between " whey " that is cooked and " undenatured whey " . Cooked, " denatured " whey doesn't have an anti-inflammatory effect although it is a good protein source. We haven't establised which whey brands have the most or any MSG, by the way; clearly the article is one of agenda. Did you get it from the NotMilk site? Guest guest
Turns out that some wheys are not hydrolysed so don't even contain traces of MSG. One of them is on my undenatured whey page. Duncan

Guest guest
Billy, the URL for the page that contains the non-hydrolyzed whey protein is: http://members.shaw.ca/duncancrow/cold-processed-whey.html I think it's the Jasrrow whey. This progessing detail makes the matter of generalisation of foods that contain MSG to be counterproductive, applying distinctly to only certain methods of extraction or processing, not the category of the food. Whatever, even the hydrolyzed whey proteins are well-tolerated by MSG-sensitive individuals, who have trouble clearing excess glutamate but do clear glutatmate nonetheless. The glutathione references link takes you to a page of PubMed queries that prove the anti-inflammatory nature of hydrolyzed whey protein in-vivo. The article you posted made a huge mistake in stating whey was inflammatory; this argument might apply to a cooked product but it doesn't fly with regard to a low- temperature-extracted undenatured one.
