Guest guest
Try pure peppermint oil (Mentha piperita) on the thumb area and the whole hand. It contains 38-48% menthol and other monoterpenes that are pain-relieving. If you don't like pure peppermint that much, apply a few drops of peppermint in some organic olive oil or other organic vegetable oils. Assuming you do not have any broken bones or torn ligaments or cartilage, the peppermint etc. should help ease the pain, reduce the swelling and speed the healing. Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) oil also has some anti-inflammatory monoterpene components and so has similar effects. Methyl salicylate (smells like analgesic creams used by athletes since they put methyl salicylate in them) is high in Wintergreen oil. Birch oil is another essential oil with anti-inflammatory properties similar to Wintergreen since it has methyl salicylate in it but a lower percentage than the Wintergreen oil. You can also try both peppermint and wintergreen oils together but don't hesitate to dilute them a bit if the smell is too strong. It only takes a few drops of essential oils to promote healing effects. Neil Carman At 2:01 AM +0000 12/7/06, tzane12 wrote: Hello.. Guest guest
You could also use a salve that contains arnica and/or comfrey root in it. Both of these are well known for healing bruises, strains, etc. Comfrey has an older name of knitbone. Its a good name. - Neil Carman Thursday, December 07, 2006 1:16 AM Re: injured thumb Try pure peppermint oil (Mentha piperita) on the thumb area and the whole hand.
