The last thing Hillary needed was bad publicity. Having to juggle

her own re-election campaign in New York State, with the George

Allen lynching in Virginia, as she simultaneously sought to rid

herself of George Allen, her most dangerous 2008 Presidential

opponent, while shopping for a 2008 Vice Presidential running mate:

James Webb, a.k.a. James Webb, was never going to be an easy thing

from the get go. Could the feds be trying to turn McLaughlin? Would

he testify against Hillary? Where would the trails lead? Who would

be next? And so it would become a race for those in the know among

Hillary's Hidden Hands. Which ones would come forward first to spill

the beans on the frame-up of George Allen? Who would be left

to " twist slowly, slowly in the wind " as Nixon domestic policy

adviser John D. Ehrlichman described the fate of L. Patrick Gray,

FBI director under Nixon. Would there be book deals? Movie rights?

(A historical note, this writer went to Mississippi in the 1960s to

civil rights movement. As such I am extremely uncomfortable about

the use of the

'Clintonistas' Rally Behind Kerry's Presidential Bid

Kerry`s White House bid has become more combative, more open to

reporters and

delivered a more focused message recently which

observers have attributed to the influence of former Bill Clinton

administration staffers. Under advice from the `Clintonistas`,

according to US

media reports, the veteran Massachusetts senator`s campaign has

clicked into a

higher gear just 41 days before Americans go to the polls on

November 2. The

Democratic presidential hopeful interrupted his campaigning across

Florida on

Tuesday to hold a press conference, his first in more than seven

weeks, at which

he lambasted President George W. Bush`s credibility over Iraq.

Kerry last spoke took questions from the press on August 9, despite

the growing number of reporters who are following the Democrat

around the country. Kerry criticized Bush who has also kept his

distance from

the press. ...Under the guidance of former Clinton era White House

spokesman Joe

Lockhart, and other former high-powered `Clintonistas` including

James Carville,

Paul Begala,... the Democratic candidate has become more combative

Kerry has notably increased his attacks on Bush, concentrating his

Citing the " chaos " and " colossal errors " in Bush`s decision to go to

According to Michael McCurry, another former Clinton spokesman who

has joined the Kerry campaign, the speech was " exactly what you'd

expect, many people have said this was a speech that you needed to

give. "

 

The Democratic candidate, who has pulled back of late in some polls,

has said he always performs better as he approaches the finishing

tape in political campaigns.

 

" Tonight I'm going to talk softly, but carry a big stick, the guys

have got me in a fighting mood, " Kerry told thousands of supporters

at an Orlando rally late Tuesday.

 

" There is a time for everything and it was time for him to take off

the gloves, " Kerry`s wife Teresa told a New York audience at a fund-

raising dinner for her husband.

 

Kerry has not hidden the fact that Bill Clinton`s seemingly

inexhaustable energy might be rubbing off: " He is probably the best

observer of American politics, the only Democrat who's won twice in

50 years or more, he is worth listening to, " Kerry told CBS talk-

show host David Letterman earlier this week.

 

Explaining the recent ramping up of his campaign, Kerry said " a

campaign grows, a presidential campaign is an enormous undertaking,

suddenly you're building a multimillion dollar corporation.

what it called a " successful fundraiser " for First Lady Hillary

Clinton at the

Park Plaza Hotel in Boston on June 13, 2000. AMA Massachusetts Chair

said afterwards, " We are attempting to send an important message to

all AMA

chapters: we must support all who have [Muslim] interests at heart,

regardless

of what part of the country they are running in. "

 

EMERSON'S TESTIMONY

According to Steve Emerson, a well-known investigative journalist

specializing

in militant Islamic organizations, the AMA's leaders " have

sanctioned terrorism,

published anti-Semitic statements, and repeatedly hosted conferences

that were

forums for denunciations of Jews and exhortations to wage jihad. "

Faced with

pressure on the matter, Mrs. Clinton announced on Oct. 25th that she

was

returning the $50,000 in campaign contributions raised for her by

the AMA. She

failed to give a credible explanation as to why it took her more

than four

months from June 13th until October 25th until she saw it

necessary to

return the money.

 

Mr. Emerson, in a recent Wall Street Journal article, noted: " As

first lady,

Mrs. Clinton began in 1996 an outreach program to Muslim leaders in

the U.S.

With America's Muslim population at some six million and growing, an

effort to

include the community's leaders in the mainstream of American

politics is

unquestionably a worthy undertaking. But curiously, nearly all of

the leaders

with whom Mrs. Clinton elected to meet came from Islamic

fundamentalist

organizations. A review of the statements, publications and

conferences of the

groups Mrs. Clinton embraced shows unambiguously that they have long

advocated

or justified violence. By meeting with these groups, the first lady

lent them

legitimacy as " mainstream " and " moderate " . "

 

But this should not be unexpected, considering Mrs. Clinton's past

radical

affiliations. During the 1980's, ultra-liberal lawyer Hillary Rodham-

 

Clinton

served on the board of the New World Foundation, which funneled

money to the

Palestine Liberation Organization, at a time when the PLO was

officially

recognized by the United States as a terrorist organization.

 

Similarly, in February 1996, Hillary hosted a reception at the White

House for

leaders of Hamas-supporting groups such as the American Muslim

Council and the

Council on American-Islamic Relations. And in January, 1998, Hillary

hosted

another White House reception honoring Muslim leaders and the Muslim

Public

Affairs Council who defended militant Islamic fundamentalism and

also supported

radical Islamic groups.

 

THE REAL HILLARY

This, then, is the real Hillary Rodham-Clinton. An ambitious woman

willing to

utter any banal cliche on behalf of " Israel's security " to placate

unaware New

York Jewish voters, but one whose pre-Senate race record on Israel

is appalling.

It's a record of supporting the terrorist PLO, even before the 1993

signing of

the first Oslo Agreement on the White House lawn, of ignoring

blatant calumny

heaped on Israel by Suha Arafat, of supporting the creation of a

Palestinian PLO

State, of hosting and legitimizing extremist Islamic groups in the

United

States. Most recently, it included taking campaign contributions

from these very

same evil, anti-Semitic organizations - until being caught with her

hand in the

extremist Islamic cookie jar. This is the very same Hillary Rodham-

Clinton who

now claims to be Israel's friend. "

In addition to posts on Democratic blogs focusing on Allen's

lineage, Wadhams cited Webb's use of a controversial handbill during

the primary campaign as evidence of anti-Semitism.

" Anti-Semitic themes run through the Webb campaign, " Wadhams

said. " I distinctly make that assertion and that charge. "

During the Democratic primary, Webb was criticized for a flier

featuring a cartoon likeness of his Jewish opponent, Harris Miller,

with a large nose and cash spilling from his pockets.

Last night, the Allen campaign issued a statement in which two

Jewish Republicans U.S. Rep. Eric I. Cantor of Virginia and U.S.

Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota—attacked Webb.

" Appeals to bigotry fail in Virginia, because Virginians look to a

person's integrity and character, " said Cantor. " Jim Webb is failing

this test for integrity. "

Coleman said, " Former Naval Secretary Webb's campaign is sailing in

dirty and dangerous waters when it plays the religious card. The

voters of Virginia should sink this vessel and wash away any effort

to question Senator Allen's faith or heritage. "

Wadhams referred to posts on Democratic blog sites that address

Allen's Jewish ancestry, …

On several blogs, some friendly to Webb, posts chided Allen for his

fierce reply to the question by a Washington television station.

Others poked fun at the senator or raised questions about his

forthrightness. Some Republican blogs carried posts defending Allen

afternoon's " Hardball " to the n-word story, and not one second to

the driving-through-the-black-neighborhood story?

Matthews opened Hardball with an extended segment featuring Patricia

Waring, who in 1978 was apparently the wife of the coach of the

University of Virginia rugby club team. She claims that, attending

one game, she overheard George Allen telling a story in which he

repeatedly used the n-word. She says she confronted him about it,

asking him not to use the word.

Waring acknowledged that she is a registered Democrat and party

volunteer.

After the Waring interview, Matthews pored over the implications for

Allen's political prospects with guests Howard Fineman of Newsweek,

Matthew Continetti of the Weekly Standard, MSNBC analyst Craig

Crawford and Mike Allen of Time magazine.

At the same time, a Washington Post story that Rush Limbaugh

discussed today [that only managed to make it into WaPo's `B'

section, in contrast with the front-page treatment the Post accorded

the Allen allegations] contains some shocking assertions.

Dan Cragg describes himself as " a longtime friend of Webb's who

worked for him when he was assistant secretary of defense under

President Ronald Reagan. " He told the Post that in addition to

hearing Webb use the n-word in his presence, Webb told him that when

he was a student at USC in Los Angeles :

" [Webb and friends] would hop into their cars, and would go down to

Watts with these buddies of his, " Cragg said Webb told him. " They

would take the rifles down there. They would call them [epithets],

point the rifles at them, pull the triggers and then drive off

laughing. One night, some guys caught them and beat . . . them. And

that was the end of that. "

Since the case made waves on two continents over two years ago,

Golan Cipel has been hiding from the media. The story of the

relationship between the governor of New Jersey and the advisor from

Israel was all over the American and Israeli papers, but until now

Cipel has refused to be interviewed. With the publication of former

New Jersey Governor James McGreevey's tell-all book The Confession,

Cipel has decided to break his silence.

 

Since the story died down, Cipel has attempted to lead a quiet

life. " It took me a long time to find work, " he notes.

" At first I wanted to continue my struggle from abroad, but after I

saw that my family was being attacked by journalists I decided to

conduct my struggle from Israel . The whole story is painful. What

hurts the most is that my entire life I've kept my integrity, and

suddenly I got involved in this case because of someone else. I

wanted to get married, to have a family, and because of him I've

lost a good many years of my life.

" When I returned to Israel my feeling was that this man would try to

return to public life, and that's what's happening now. That's why

I'm no longer prepared to remain silent. Why is he writing a book?

If his only concern was his two daughters, the two families he

destroyed, he would have focused on his personal life. But he needs

the public's sympathy, the applause, for them to love him. That was

his main motivation for getting into politics. "

A meeting in Rishon Lezion

The case exploded in August 2004 when James McGreevey held a press

conference in which he confessed his homosexuality, told of a long

affair he'd had with Golan Cipel, and claimed that Cipel had

blackmailed him. Cipel vehemently denied the charges, claiming he'd

been sexually harassed by the governor and had never had sex with

him.

An FBI investigation examined both the blackmail allegations and the

sexual harassment charges, but the case was closed and none of the

people involved was put on trial.

Cipel and McGreevey met for the first time in Rishon Lezion when a

group of politicians from New Jersey was on a visit to Israel .

McGreevey, an ambitious and charismatic politician, was then mayor

of Woodbridge Township , New Jersey , and Cipel was spokesman for

Rishon Lezion.

The two hit it off immediately, and McGreevey, who was considering

running for governor, promised Cipel a PR position. For Cipel, who'd

previously served as spokesman for the Israeli Consulate in New York

and parliamentary advisor to MK Avi Yehezkel, this was a golden

opportunity.

Cipel was 32 when he started working for McGreevey. In his first two

years, he says, nothing happened that would give him an indication

of what awaited him in the future.

And then, in the narrow corridor?

Cipel will never forget the fateful encounter in the governor's

home.

" He called me to a meeting in his home. His wife was in the hospital

on pregnancy bed rest. There was a guard outside. We started to

talk, and then he suggested that we go to the bar for a drink. I

told him that this wasn't acceptable. He said that he was a regular

guy, that he didn't intend to change his habits; that he'd grown up

in this neighborhood.

" I went with him, after all, I was his aide. The guard came with us.

We went to the bar, and there everyone really did know him and shook

his hand. I don't like beer. I didn't want to drink. He laughed at

me in front of everyone and kept drinking.

" At a certain point he suggested that we go home. He told me that he

needed to speak with me. When we left the bar he bought Jegermeister

at a store and took the bottle home. At home he spoke with me about

work. I listened patiently, took notes, and he drank and tried to

convince me to drink. He accompanied me to the door, and then he

remembered that he had something on the second floor, that was

related to work and that he wanted to show me.

" He went up, and I went up after him in the narrow corridor.

Suddenly he pushed me into the room and jumped on me. We began to

struggle. I shook him off me. He stopped and there was an awkward

moment. I was in total shock. This was the man I'd so respected, a

nice man, and suddenly I see before me an entirely different person,

an insane person with an insane look in his eyes.

" I thought to myself: `How did this happen to me? God, how did this

happen?' I asked him why he thought that I'm gay, and he said to me

that everyone is a bit gay. "

How did the evening end?

" I went home and I couldn't sleep the whole night. I kept

thinking, `What do I do, how do I work now?' I knew that in a case

like that, with such a strong and dangerous man against me, there's

nowhere to escape to. I went into a process of denial. My mind was a

maelstrom of fear, of confusion.

" I knew that I had nowhere to go. Where could I go, to the cops?

They were part of his office. To the attorney general? Part of his

office. They're his people. I knew that the guy had power, and if I

endangered him I'd be in trouble. The next day he acted as if

nothing had happened. "

And what happened afterwards?

" The second incident occurred after he broke his leg. He called me

and asked me to come to him for a work-related matter. His young

aide was in the house and his wife and baby as well. The governor

lay on a special hospital bed that was in the living room. The baby

was on the floor, and his wife and his aide were speaking in the

living room.

" Suddenly he took out his penis and started masturbating and moaning

next to me. He tapped the bed and motioned for me to come sit with

him. I looked at him and I saw that insane look in his eyes. I said

to him, `Your baby is in the room,' but he didn't bat an eyelash and

kept moaning. I decided to leave the house.

" The aide decided to leave the house with me. He walked in the

governor's direction to say goodbye and shake his hand. The governor

pulled him over by force and tried to kiss him on the lips. The aide

pushed him, looked in my direction, saw that I'd taken in what had

happened, and then I realized that I wasn't the only one who knew

those things about him. "

But you still didn't leave after the second time...

" That's where my mistake was. I said to myself that there are

several other people who know about his harassment and they manage

with it, so I'll manage with his problem too. In retrospect it was a

mistake. You have to confront people like that in spite of the

shame, the fear, and the confusion.

" At that point I should have complained. The intoxication with power

led him to do these things, and he was intoxicated with his power.

He used to tell me that only God was above him. The problem is that

if you don't complain, in the end you'll be accused of agreeing to

it. And ultimately that's what happened to me. "

When did you lodge a complaint?

" For several months nothing happened and I thought I could manage

with it, but the third time he attacked me during a trip to

Washington in his car. During that incident I almost attacked him

back. I was close to doing that. I intended to hit him back. After

the third time I decided to leave.

" From the moment I left the governor tried to control me from afar.

I ran away to New York . I left everything without telling a soul,

but then the campaign of persecution began. I was astonished that

since the first incident I'd been followed, my mail had been read,

my phone lines had been tapped, notes had been left on my car. I

felt like I was in the movie `The Firm' with Tom Cruise. The

governor himself would tell me that I'm with him until the day I

die, until I'm deep in the earth. "

In the end it was McGreevey who decided to come out of the closet

and explode the story. Cipel found himself in the middle of a

worldwide scandal.

" I went through a very tough time. I was fighting a huge corrupt

system with connections in the American media. I was accused of

attempting to blackmail the governor. "

How did your family and friends in Israel respond?

" Here I got tremendous support. There's a difference between

Americans and Israelis. Israelis don't buy stories and don't buy the

politicians' Hollywood show. In America they believe politicians

more. But the governor destroyed my life. Everything that I'd built

I lost because of him. I never thought I'd be involved in a case

like this.

" On the other hand I encouraged myself: I fought back, this giant of

a man was brought down, and his entire corrupt apparatus was brought

down. Little me brought down the big governor. That's the thing that

gives me strength. He won the PR battle, but I won the war. It's a

fact. The governor resigned. "

The story is totally different in the governor's book. He talks of a

relationship you two had.

" I know this guy very well. Once we were talking about politicians

involved in scandals, and he said to me that the simple thing you

have to do is to stand up in front of the American people and

apologize. He told me that Americans are a softhearted compassionate

people. They always forgive their leaders. He's trying to turn the

whole case into a story that's just about gays.

" That's why it's important to me now to tell my story. I never had

anything with him, he didn't kiss me and there was nothing personal

between us. It could be that he's confusing me with one of his other

aides. But I'm Israeli and so I was different from the others: I was

pushed into a corner until I decided to wage war. And I'm not gay at

all.

" He himself wrote in the book that there's a chance that Golan isn't

gay, but he thought that if he had a relationship with me perhaps

he'd succeed in moving me to the other side. That sentence proves

everything. "

Critics say candidate playing both sides, cite his column in

homosexual newspaper

 

Though Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry says he opposes

legalizing same-sex marriage, critics are pointing to the

candidate's radical statements and writings in favor of homosexual

marriage and claim this is one more divisive issue on which Kerry is

attempting to play to both sides in an election year.

Kerry was one of just a few senators who voted against the Defense

of Marriage Act, which then-President Bill Clinton signed into law

in 1996.

In a 1996 column for the homosexual publication the Advocate, Kerry

slammed the act, known as DOMA, calling it " as unconstitutional and

unnecessary as it is mean-spirited and malicious. "

DOMA, which passed with the support of 85 senators, says states are

not required to recognize same-sex marriages licensed in other

states. " Marriage " is defined in the law as " only a legal union

between one man and one woman as husband and wife. "

In his column, Kerry cites the Constitution's " Full Faith and

Credit " clause, saying Congress does not have the authority to let

states off the hook.

Wrote Kerry: " Imagine the confusion if we didn't have such a clause:

A child-custody decision in California could be ignored by Illinois;

a divorce concluded in Nevada could be rejected in New York. DOMA

does violence to the spirit and letter of the Constitution by

allowing the states to divide. "

Kerry claimed DOMA created a " caste system " in the United States.

" It seems no coincidence that every election year a few politicians

gang together for some legislative gay bashing, " he wrote. " This

behavior panders to the basest instincts of the human condition ¨C

scapegoating and ostracizing.

" But we are a better nation than that. Echoing the ignorance and

bigotry that peppered the discussion of interracial marriage a

generation ago, the proponents of DOMA call for a caste system for

marriage. "

The senator praised homosexuals for their contribution to society.

" I have long believed that gay people have a role in all public

policy. Each gay man and lesbian in urban centers and small towns

across this country brings a wealth of experience to the discussion

of civil rights and discrimination. "

Kerry even tied in his Vietnam service, lamenting " when the Senate

debated the outrageous ban on gays in the military. "

Wrote Kerry: " I knew firsthand from my tours [sic] of duty in

Vietnam the bravery and distinction with which gay soldiers served

their country. "

While Kerry verbally opposed the Federal Marriage Amendment to the

Constitution the Senate took up last month ¨C he and running mate

John Edwards did not vote on the issue ¨C he has said he opposes

states licensing same-sex marriage.

Campaigning in Missouri last week, Kerry said he would have voted

for the ban on homosexual marriage that state's voters passed Aug. 3

with 71 percent support. He also supports a similar ban pending in

his home state of Massachusetts.

Though supporting state bans on same-sex marriage, Kerry has

strongly supported " civil unions " for homosexuals. A page on his

campaign website states: " John Kerry and John Edwards will work to

support civil unions, prevent hate crimes, end discrimination,

increase HIV/AIDS funding, and will protect Gay and Lesbian

families. "

Not all homosexual groups embrace Kerry's ability to seemingly play

both sides of the same-sex marriage issue. The Log Cabin

Republicans, a homosexual group, slammed the Democrat Tuesday for

supporting the Missouri measure.

" We are deeply disappointed that Senator Kerry has decided to play

politics with the constitutional process in Missouri, " Log Cabin

Executive Director Patrick Guerriero told the Advocate. " It is yet

another example of a Kerry flip-flop. "

Asked Chris Barron, political director for Log Cabin: " What is

Senator Kerry's message to gay and lesbian Americans? His message

seems pretty clear; Senator Kerry will support discriminatory

amendments when it becomes politically expedient. "

Though Kerry now supports a ban on same-sex marriage in

Massachusetts, two years ago he signed a letter addressed to state

legislators in opposition to a state constitutional amendment that

would have barred recognition of homosexual relationships.

" The proposal to add to that document ¨C essentially a charter of

liberty and democracy ¨C a provision as harsh both in its intent and

its effect on our gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered

constituents is in conflict with the generous spirit that motivated

its adoption, and that should continue to govern us today, " stated

the letter.

The Kerry campaign sees no contradiction or flip-flopping in the

senator's position.

" John Kerry's position has been crystal clear, " spokesman David Wade

told USA Today earlier this year. " He opposed a proposed

constitutional amendment in Massachusetts in the summer of 2002

because a sweeping proposal would have threatened civil unions,

health benefits, or inheritance rights for gay couples that

represent equal protection under the law.
