Guest guest
I am looking for (NON) commercial web links to learn more basics about Traditional . I'm NOT interested in buying anything -- just learning more about what it is, how it works, and what I may have been given for my dog. Here's my current situation/interest: I've GREATLY improved my dog's health by moving her to a recommended raw meat/vegees diet, but what's still left is some of her old chronic skin and ear problems. To get another opinion, I took her to a vet that does both conventional and holistic vet medicine, and he gave me what's just labeled " Lotus Herbs " to add to her food for 3 weeks, to see if it helps. What I was not able to get was exactly what this means ( " Lotus Herbs " ), and whether this is supposed to be a cure for her current ills (reset her health somehow?), or whether this is just a TCM version of a symptom-coverer (a sort of " aspirin " or " band-aid " ). I tried to google for answers, but I'm finding a lot of TCM clinic and business listings -- but no just general info sites I can learn more from. Does anyone have any ideas of good info sites about Traditional Chinese Medicine? I'm told that TCM medicines used for dogs are mostly what's used for people (since there isn't much research into dogs/cats yet). So even sites geared for humans should get me what I'm looking for. Guest guest
> What I was not able to get was exactly what this means ( " Lotus Herbs " ) " Lotus Herbs " is a brand of Chinese herbal medicines and one of the better brands at that. " Lotus Herbs " is now " Evergreen Herbs " . Their website is www.evherb.com. However, without being a practitioner you probably won't be able to get much from it. Most TCM formulas aim at treating the root cause of the problem and not just the symptoms. Is there any other writing on the bottle? I might be able to tell you more about it if there is. I am a licensed acupuncturist. You can contact me offline if you want. acucraig Craig
Guest guest
Thank you, Craig! I'm sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. Somehow, I deleted your email and had to go to the groups site to get it again. There was no other writing on the bottle (it was a prescription bottle, with handwritten " Lotus Herbs " ). Guest guest
Jent, I still think " Lotus Herbs " is just the brand name. Your vet probably has to repackage the herbs because the original bottle label has dosages for humans. If you ask, your vet should be willing to tell you the formula name.
