Comment Two Large Dairies Drop Artificial Hormone UseTimothy G.9-25-6 Dear Jeff, I worked as a truck driver for about one year picking up milk from dairy farms in Conn., RI, and Mass. as part of my job I would take this milk to the Garelick Farms plant in Franklin, Mass., then owned by Souza Corporation of Texas. As part of my job I would fill out slips that told the dairy how much milk was being taken from the farms. At the bottom of these slips I would have to sign

my name to a statement saying to my knowledge there were no drugs used on the cows that produced the milk in question. This was nothing short of a lie. The dairy -- Garelick Farms -- knew this was taking place at many of the farms...while I, personally, had no way of knowing if it was or was not. Moreover, it was not uncommon to find milk tanks at dairy farms that smelled like bleach which would often be used to kill of a high bacterial count in the milk. In addition to this, I often found the hygiene at some farms very poor...as well as the adding of water to the milk at all the dairy processors I would haul to. My experience in this business left me feeling sick about all dairy products for more then a year. "Get
