Guest guest
Hello all, For most of the last 10 years, I've had " Chronic Fatigue/Fibromyalgia " -- which conventional western medicine was doing its usual worse-than-nothing job at taking care of. I got the usual " It's all in your head, so take antidepressants " , or, " You'll just get worse and worse -- there's nothing that can be done except learn to accept it " . After years of trusting a medical establishment that wasn't earning any trust, I started looking elsewhere for answers -- and I began to actually find them! One of the most important answers I found was from someone else on a list similar to this one -- just a normal, every-day person who'd had a similar problem and was just sharing what worked for her. And that's why I share my own story once in awhile -- to perhaps pass along something of value to the next person. To give, as I received I have no interest in or attachment to any company (and don't name brands) -- and indeed, there's nothing I've needed that couldn't be found in several different places and forms. So if there is something for you here, please take it with God's blessing! If not, may you find what DOES work for you, with God's help! My symptoms and history and such were pretty standard for what people have with CF and/or CF/F. So I won't go into that. But here are the significant parts of my own particular healing journey: (1) Adding L-GLUTAMINE to my diet (5 grams a day) I use the powder [mixed in a drink with my other nutrients], but it also comes in pill form. Look for any decent brand, and check out the body-building and health stores, too. Oftentimes their pricing and quality seems better than what's available in the natural stores. Google for more info about glutamine. It's one of the safest things you could ever take. Within a few weeks, I was feeling a little better -- more energy, less brain fog. Within several months, I would say I was back to 60% of normal (from 10%, pre-glutamine). One of the things glutamine does is heal the body (so for any kind of trauma or long-term illness, consider glutamine). It also heals the gut -- which, it turned out, was a lot of what I needed! (2) Adding weight-lifting three times a week. I couldn't do anything aerobic at all -- even a short walk would exhaust me for days afterwards. However, someone suggested doing even a short, tiny-weight session a few times a week, and it helped! I started small, and within a month I began to feel better. More energy, again, and less brain fog. I've been lifting for a year now, and I've gone from (for example), curling a 9 lb. dumbbell (4 reps, 3 sets, 9lbs on each arm), to today curling 34 lbs on each arm (6 reps, 3 sets). I don't have " huge " muscles -- but what I did seem to gain was a big increase in human growth hormone (HGH). I was told the other day that doing weight lifting can increase HGH levels several hundred percent. I'm sure that was very helpful for my body! (3) Finding out what foods were " poison " to my body, and learning to avoid them. This was a few months ago: I went to a naturopath, and got a blood test to show if my body was reacting badly to any foods. The worst part of this blood test is that you might get false positives. However, if it says, for example, that you are allergic to oranges, then you avoid oranges for a month or two -- and then you eat them again. If adding them back to your diet makes you sick, then the positive was true. Otherwise, you know you are ok with oranges afterall. I found that I showed pretty severe reactions to immune-system / allergic reactions to several common foods. I've since been avoiding all those foods (which can be a challenge at times!). Within a week, 90% of my " normal " aches and pains just disappeared. Within a few weeks, most of my brain fog was gone. Within a month, most of my acne had cleared. And so on (I'm still in " heal " mode, and will be a few more months, since mine was so severe). Another big change was that I was within a week or so about to do aerobic exercise again -- though I still have to take it easy. Right now, I've gone from being able to do zero aerobics, to being able to do an easy 20 minutes on my exercise bike a few times a week -- and WITHOUT being exhausted the next days! Due to everything finally beginning to " come together " , I've begun to lose weight now, too. Note that if you can't afford the food allergy blood test, or if you just don't want to hassle with it, you can also just avoid possible allergens and anything else you eat more than a few times a week -- do that for a few months, then try adding things back one at a time. You can Google for more details on how to do all of this, too. So now, to wrap up at this point, I'd say I'm at least 80% healed of my previous " CF/F " . For me, the principle was to stop poisoning myself with things my body can't handle (certain foods, but also bad foods and so on), and to give my body what it needed to heal itself of years of " poisoning " . I'm continuing to get better, and am looking forward to finding that 100% before this is all done! I'm also grateful for this whole process, too, as it's forced me to deal with how my natural body is set up to run, and to begin working WITH, instead of AGAINST, it. I'm not perfect, by any means, but I'm eating better than I have in my whole life, and I'm enjoying and appreciating the health I do have more than I ever have before. May all those seeking renewed health find what their individual bodies need, and then find the inner strength and insight to pursue it!
