agree that that will certainy work, but sometimes when the timing is just right, they can be pulled out, "root" and all with a thread and it is quick and almost painless. take a thread, double it and place the boil beteen the strands, then twist the strands until it simply pulls the root right out.. something like a turn-buckle. i have personally done this so i know for sure that it works. a cola bottle will also draw one out if it is ready, but can be pretty painful if it is not ready. done that, too. you heat the bottle, place it over the boil and as it cools, it forms a suction that pulls it out. don't get it too ht lest you burn the "victim."
