Guest guest
Suzi, This is the same methodolgy i use. I buy when things are on sale. then dehydrate, freeze, seal or store. I buy in bulk whenever possible of dry goods if they are on sale so i can have them on hand when i dont have the money. (I also now try to date so i cam first bought, first used) I check prices on everything! and i keep a list/record of places that i buy and how much those itesm are so that when i shop again, i remember the least expensive place to buy each item. I also shop online and take advantage of buying in bulk there if it means further discounts and free shipping. Also they could try growing some herbs in containers? I used to container garden when i lived in an apt and it works well if you just stay on top of it. I am the biggest penny pincher in the world and it kills me each time i shop to know that i could buy 3 times the groceries with the amount i pay for the organics but... If i fall sick due to poor diet, how much more would it cost to heal my body? Who would look after my family? My daughter and GK's are out on thier own now, and Daughter has reverted to " store bought " stuff. At least once per week, one of the boys is sick or has sniffles, etc. as where before (when they were eating organics with us) they went a whole year with nothing! They are also much more antsy, have lost weight and have that " tired " look. In the summer when you have farmers markets etc.. buy and can or freeze... watch for sales... Same with flour... and make you're own bread. > As for herbs... I add here and there as I can... watch herbalcom and a few for specials also... before you know it you have a " supply " going.... and then you only have to buy an item here or there.... With fruits... sometimes if there is a sale... I buy ..then make my smoothies and freeze them... I can get them out the nite before and then have them the next day. It's like dehydrators, juicers, etc... I've been adding for about 4-5 years... I now have my dehydrator, juicer, grinder, blender, bread machine, .. etc... Also, hint for things for birthdays, xmas... (parents are good for this....lol)... or money for birthday... to buy herbs..or whatever.. > > An-Marie Gameiro <angameiro> wrote: > Candance, > > I totaly understand you. I am to a SAHM with a certain amount of budget a week for groceries. It is hard when only one person is providing for the whole family. I still don't by everything I want organic, but I started out slowly. I put my kids first and got them onto a healthy start, then I start on myself. Gradually getting my husband on the same level as I am. That's what I'm doing now. > > A month ago, I nearly spent all of my grocery money on organic fruits and veggies and udo's oil thinking of the kids and us. At the end I was so, so depress, because I needed other things at the market and not just fruits and veggies. Now, I have to be wise and think of my kids first. > > > > > > Finance Tax Center - File online. File on time.
