I have looked at his belly button... There is nothing out of the ordinary looking about it. It is clean and looks totally normal.??? I appreciate what your saying but dang there is no redness, nothing.. Any other ideas? God Bless & Thanks, Jamie in AZ

No he hasn't. His Dad raised him & his siblings... He never took them to Dr. or Dentist, etc. It was just sink or swim in that house! All the kids have breathing problems too.. I am surprised none of them died. Not that you should go to the Dr. just that he did nothing to help them. His older brother has only use of 1 lung due to damage from childhood. PS Their mom left when they were toddlers and none of them ever saw her again. SO SAD Any ideas on how to check for belly button hernia at home? Guest guest
He may have a hernia. Could be an adhesion if he was ever injured there or had abdomenal surgery. Sometimes parasites can cause that kind of pain there. Kinda hard to figure because I don't know much about him. Guest guest
You need to feel around for it. Have him lay down and relax. Gently put your fingers flat over his navel. Press down slightly and have him tighten his ab muscles. Usually you will feel a bulging area, softer than the surrounding muscles at this point. Hope this helps. Guest guest
my step dad had two hernias. one in the groin and one at the navel. the groin one was frequently trying to herniate or i think they call it strangulate.. come through the stomach lining, and he would have to lie down and push it in and place a truss over it to keep it in. like you say, the hernia itself is very soft because it is actually the gut trying to get out. the one at the navel was not as bad, but it would get puffy (puf out a bit)when he over lifted something too heavy. if the gut got out and the opening didn't expand, it could really be a terrible problem as it, where it was choked off, begin to decay and that is BAD news.. love.. granny lee - Janet Seidlitz You need to feel around for it. Guest guest
Jamie, he has a lot of baggage that he's holding on to, you say he's had this forever. Think about it, you are attached to your mom in utero through the umbilical cord, which then becomes the belly button.......... and his pain is right there. I'd say it is absolutely about his mom. I know some wonderful people who do work with this type of thing.
