Guest guest
This is an update I got from a friend of mine about an illness she's been having problems with for quite a while. I know for her blood clotting cayenne would be the answer(?) but what should I suggest for the stomach paralysis? I've never heard of that before? Anyone? It makes me sick just reading her emails about all the different drugs she's trying. Docs use her as a guinea pig......... I have been having complications with my blood clotting disorder for the last month or so and thought that it might be a good idea to give an update. Two weeks ago, I was seen in the emergency room for another blood clot in my lung. At the time, it was determined that it was small and could likely do no more damage and I was released. My blood clotting time was then and continues to be dangerously fast. The coumadin is not working as well as we would like and there are really no other options for me. Two days after I got out of the hospital, I began having nose bleeds and other problems. I was seen at a different local hospital where my blood was checked again and I was told that regardless of my unusual bleeding, my blood was still clotting too fast. Again, I was sent home and told to watch my condition and call in if it got any worse. I saw my doctor yesterday (for the last time before he leaves for his surgery) and when my blood was checked again, he expressed concern that we can't seem to get the clotting slowed down. He indicated that I should be prepared to have some clots forming and moving through various parts of my system, causing chest pains, headaches and leg pains, until I can get my clotting slowed down. He then gave me more news to consider. I have been having stomach problems for almost 4 years and when the episodes occur, they are almost completely dibilitating. I was diagnosed yesterday with a disease called Gastro paresis. In short that means that my stomach is paralyzed and does not digest food. Once I eat breakfast in the morning, my meals continue to sit in my stomach, basically stacking on top of each other through the day until, by evening I am very sick to my stomach. I have multiple symptoms that lead him to believe that I have one of the most severe forms of this disease. Some of the time it is reversable, most of the time it is not. The doctor gave me some new medication to try that is supposed to force my stomach to work and I will start on it today. It is a four times a day medication that I will hopefully show some improvement in my condition the next two weeks. In the mean time, I am to switch over to a mostly liquid diet and try to eat as little as possible. He has also decided to check me for various other problems that could be the underlying cause of the gastro paresis, such as diabetis, thyroid problems, high cholesterol, blood cell abnormalities and some other tests that I didn't quite understand. Please pray that the causes of this new disease are found and can be reversed or that something can be done to improve my condition if it can't be reversed. It has been a very long and trying illness and in addition to my blood problems, stressful.
