Guest guest
It is one of the ingredients in Total Nutrition... be careful of the kind you get as alot of it is not as pure as it says. It is not organically grown and may be growing in contaminated areas. Hawaii has the best. Here is an excerpt from the TN files ... Spirulina Blue Green AlgaeSpirulina is one of the most concentrated, nutritious foods on this planet. It is the highest natural source of complete protein (75%). We use the only organically grown Spirulina in the world, from Hawaii. The high amount of sunshine there makes this Spirulina higher in Beta Carotene than any other. It is also a rich source of B-Vitamins. especially B-12. Grown using water pumped from 2000 feet deep in the ocean, this Spirulina is one of the richest sources of minerals also. Being one of the oldest types of algae, it has a soft cell wall for easy digestion and assimilation.cpusandfish <allcarroll wrote: I bought some spirulina this weekend from GNC since they said it would help fill me up taken before meals so I wont eat as much. I came home and looked it up on the internet and found that this stuff is like the wonder algae for health. Lots of amazing info. Does anyone else take this and how do you like it?Lianne
Guest guest
I buy Spirulina in bulk at our local health food store, and pack it into capsules. I also add it into a mix that I make as a protein replacement for my breakfast shakes. Here's my formula: 4 parts nutritional yeast 3 parts alfalfa-dandelion-red clover blend 2 parts flax seed meal 2 parts astragalus 2 parts powdered lecithin 1 part oat bran 1 part wheat germ 1 part spirulina Blend together and keep in a covered jar. Add a heaping tablespoon in blender with a cup of orange juice and 2 bananas. All of GNC herbs are made by Triarco, I went to their site but dont think I saw where their spirulina is grown. I'll go back and e-mail them if I have to to find out.Lianne Search - Find what you’re looking for faster.
