Any advice? Teresa Did you have a complete thyroidectomy or a partial? Are you on this type of meds?? Antithyroid drugs cause side effect in about 10% of patients. Reactions can include: skin rash swollen, stiff, painful joints sore threat and fever low white blood count, which can lead to serious infections jaundice (yellow coloring of the skin) and, rarely, liver failure. Most side effects clear up once the drugs are stopped. If you think you are having a reaction to antithyroid drugs, call your doctor immediately. Please let us have all the info you know so we can try to help you better! God Bless, Jamie in AZ
Guest guest
No thyroid at all, on Synthroid 125 mcg and having those symptoms that you listed as being adverse. Teresa
Guest guest
Total tonic, garlic cloves would be my first choices... then either echinacea plus or astralagus on and off. Guest guest
Teresa, I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and was on Synthroid for a time being and never noticed any improvement of symptoms. It wasn't until I began doing more research on my condition that I discovered that many, many people do not feel well on just the synthetic Synthroid - which is T4 only. I would recommend exploring the option of more natural hormone replacement - Armour or Naturethroid, for example. These are made from porcine dessicated thyroid glands and have all the hormones that your body naturaly makes, T1, T2, T3, T4 and calcitonin. I for one have noticed a dramatic improvement - and I made this switch after listening to testimony after testimony of other people who had tried this before me on a bunch of thyroid lists I am on. Unfortunately, very few patients will find an endocrinologist or primary physician that will prescribe anything other than Synthroid. (Pharma influence.....) There are other lists out there that deal specifically with thyroid issues, and some specific to more natural treatment. I don't know if I can recommend them by name on this list, but I can tell you privately if you would like. Selenium is a good supplement that helps in conversion....(T4 to usable T3). You may have a cellular resistance or conversion problem. You may also have adrenal issues as well. I have read and my natauropathic Dr. tells me that almost ALL thryoid patients have adrenal fatigue as well. Guest guest
Hi Becky, I had a hypothyroid for years before doing the total body cleanse this past summer. Got retested afterwards - completely normal!! Got SOOOO many other benefits from it as well! I highly recommend it! Guest guest
Kate is right, Most physicians (frequently called medico's on this board) will insist you try Synthroid and even when you dont show improvement will play with your dosages, etc rather than taking you off of it and trying something else. Synthroid has been in and out of court ever since they were " Approved " by the FDA, this site can give you some history about that: http://thyroid.about.com/library/weekly/aa071201a.htm There is finally some light in sight, that it may come off the amrket Also, Symptoms and treatments for Hashimotos, Hypo-thyroid and those without Thyriods due to surgery are all different, but ALL can benefit from a natural/organic diet. I spent over 2 years talking to other people and friends with some type of Thyroid disfuntion before landing here and making some changes in my life and diet. While each of you has a different need, you can as i said before all benefit in varying degrees from Doc's tape and his consultation, and proper diet. Guest guest
I would think that the cleanses could only help her overall health and help what little thyroid she does have left deal with life. Ultimately, she would be best to consult with Doc.
