Guest guest
Hi Elizabeth I've been away and have only just seen your message but had to tell you about my dog. She was diagnosed with a heart murmur when she was 13. She used to get out of breath quickly and when she had been asleep she would cough where fluid had built up on her lungs. The vet said it was a grade 3 murmur and very reluctantly let me go home without any medication (which he said she would have to take for the rest of her life). I gave her hawthorn tincture half a teaspoon twice a day and sometimes i added a bit of motherwort. I never had her tested at the vets again so I don't know if it actually did improve but what i do know is she stopped getting so breathless and more important she stopped coughing. She lived till she was 17. I have to say that if she had not improved I would have tried to find a holistic vet and failing that gone back to my ordinary vet as obviously it could be very serious. I have never heard of surgery for heart murmurs but maybe your sister should find out more about how seirous a heart murmur it is. My vet said they go up to grade 6. Maybe if her dogs is more serious then the herbal approach might not be suitable. A second opinion or preferably a holistic vet might be the best bet Hope this helps Lynda Message ----- ELIZABETH ELLIOTT herbal remedies Wednesday, February 25, 2004 3:53 AM Re: Herbal Remedies - Doggy PH My sister's dog has a heart murmur. Any recommendations? The vet wants to do surgery, however she is not going to do this. Investigate before you vaccinate!!
