Guest guest
Well for the past couple months I've been denying to myself a problem that I knew was there... I'll start back about 4 years or so ago (before herbal remedies)... I was losing the hearing in my left ear... the middle ear, stapes, the bone that amplifies the sound thru vibration, so to speak... It quit vibrating... wore out.. it had to be replaced... It was and I hear good out of it now.. Well, at that time, the dr told me it may or may not ever happen to the other ear......... yep, it happened.. Shortly after getting back from vacation, I noticed it... thought it was fluid behind the eardrum... (Wishful thinking, while in the corner back of my mind I knew)... I've been trying remedies but to no avail... meanwhile everyone has been "yelling at me" (lol) to get my attention.. Well, today, I went for a hearing test to confirm what I already knew.... The nice part was that I got to see the dr who did the original surgery... He is genuinely a good soul... wonderful man.... and one of the best in the country ... Well, after the test, he walked thru the door and said... "IT's time...... but then you already knew that, didn't you?" And yes I did... Well I have to have the bone replaced....just like the last time. I'm sort of bumming.. But hey, maybe I'll get a bionic replacement.... the good news was the left ear has not decreased at all in hearing...working good as ever.. It is frustrating to either not hear or when you do, not know where exactly the sound is coming from (which direction)... and while I welcome the outcome.... I dread the "coming out of the surgery"... You see, they are working very close to the equilibrium of your body... For those of you who ever got so drunk... you saw the room spinning, vomited, etc... This is worse than any "cheap drunk" you can imagine. You don't want to be moved, touched, etc. (From sweet, loveable charming to BITCH in a fraction of a second) and it lasts most of a day into the evening. If there was another way, I think after the last 2 months I would have found it... but I guess the little bone just wore itself out.... (and yes, I've tried DMSO also) Anyway, I've resided myself to doing this again... Have to be able to hear out of the right ear... it's driving me and everyone around me crazy. So, my question is (after all that)... ginger works on nausea...I know that... but how long does it work... I'm thinking if I take it the nite before (it it won't affect the anathesia...will it be working by noon the next day... anyone know??? Guest guest
Suzi, Maybe some fresh little slices of Ginger on your tongue that you can gently suck on. I had surgery on both of my jaws and while they were not in the ear directly they were very close and the entire side of head swollen (both sides actually). Mom was there with me and made me drink ginger tea, which helped the tummy but not really the cause. Hubby somtimes uses little slices of fresh ginger on his tongue. Maybe you can slice them ahead and keep them in a little baggy?
