Guest guest
Kelli, Since it is really important to Thyroid, i would sub it either half or entirely for any oil. Like salad dressings For baking (if you use butter or veggie shortening, use half coconut half other) Frying/Sauteeing. Anytime you would use Olive or other type oils. Guest guest
For your daughters toast, try mixing half Coconut half Butter (hopefully you are using organic butter) I did this for my biscotti last night. I put a few tblsps of butter and a few of Coconut in a small glass ramekin and put them in a shallow pan of water on the lowest heat setting until they both melted. I kept mixing them as they cooled so they would not separate. Once they cool and start to set, put in the fridge, she may never know the differnce. I dont actually fry many things, but i do make my refried beans and falafel in coconut oil. It really doesnt have much flavor at all, in fact less flavor than olive does and much better for the thyroid! I don't think coconut oil would be so good on the toast, but I should be able to sub for the others. Does it have a strong flavor? Will it make the beans taste funny? > > Thanks for the ideas!! > > Kelli > > > Sylvia [h10feet] > Thursday, February 26, 2004 2:31 PM > herbal remedies > Re: Herbal Remedies - Organic Coconut > > > Anytime you would use Olive or other type oils.
