I need to be up and walking tomorrow...HELP!!!I was playing with my dog, running around the house like I know I shouldn't be, and somehow the front of my foot connected with an immovable object. I don't think it is broken. But I can't stand on my foot. I have a bit of bruising where the toes meet the foot and it is very slightly swollen. So I think it must be a strain or sprain or something like that. Being that I can't walk to get to a store, I have a limited amount of home remedy choices at hand other than RICE. I have some cayenne tincture which I could mix with some jojoba oil and rub over the bruised area--hopefully bringing increased circulation to speed healing? What do you think--would that help or hurt? Herb wise, I don't have much else at hand. No comfrey or arnica. I have some white willow capsules which

I'm using to reduce imflammation. Any great ideas? I want to be better tomorrow.

Ouch!

I hope this does not sound insensitive- because I do wish you well, but

my first idea is when you are up and about stock up on some basic in

your natural tool kit of herbals and essential oils. Good idea for

everyone to have the basic herbals and essential oils needed to deal

with the many unexpected (and expected) challenges that arrive. I know

it's easy for me to say this because I am an aromatherapist and *have*

to be well stocked. But I have more than what's *needed* by most

people anyway. A few basics go a long, long way.

A cold/ ice compress would be the first thing I'd do. Followed by

Arnica and St. John's Wort (oil infused herbals) and Lavender,

angustifolia (essential oil) mixed w/ a drop or two of Chamomile roman

or Yarrow for inflammation (essential oils). There are many other

helpful oils but these would be the ones I would use first. I'd also

take C with bioflavonoids, MSM, fruits and veggies - including papaya

if you can get it.

I think it's wise for everyone to have on hand at least these (very)

basics for first aid:

Infused Calendula

Infused Arnica

Infused St. John's Wort

A good herbal first aid balm

Essential oils of:

Tea Tree

Lavender, angustifolia

Geranium

Lemon

Rosemary, cineole

Chamomile roman

Eucalyptus, globulus (or radiata if you have small kids)

Peppermint

Sweet Orange

Cypress

Ginger or Black Pepper

4 oz of organic sweet almond oil to dilute and blend with

And of course:

Total Tonic and Echinacea Plus and cayenne

I would also keep Intestinal formula #2 on hand

These items are available via Organic Solutions as most of you know.

And always- garlic and ginger in the fridge ;-)

What do others here find absolutely necessary to keep in stock?

Elizabeth
