Guest guest Posted February 21, 2004 Report Share Posted February 21, 2004 Whole Life Essentials Newsletter Almond Milk (great substitute for milk) 1 cup soaked raw almonds 2 cups pure water 2 - 3 organic Dates or a few raisons OR a little sweetener of choice (maple syrup or raw honey) pinch tsp Celtic sea salt (optional) You can also add a drop or two or vanilla or almond extract if you like or a pinch of nutmeg, cinnamon, or cardamon - easy to make a chai this way. Blend until smooth. Strain mixture well in a sprout bag or cheesecloth bag. You can also find cloth bags in asian markets sometimes that work great! Squeeze the bag and save the pulp that is left over. This recipe is also great with cardamon, cinnamon, or vanilla too. Good w/ cereal, as a base for smoothies, etc. Banana Almond Milk 1/2 oz (about 12) blanched whole raw almonds (soak raw almonds for several hours and remove brown part easily) 1 banana (frozen chunks or not) 3/4 cup spring water 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 2 pinches fresh nutmeg 2-3 ice cubes In a blender, combine the almonds, banana, water, vanilla, and nutmeg with ice cubes. Process until smooth, and serve immediately Wondering what to do with the leftover almond meal after you make your milk? Indulge, of course ;-) Almond Milk Gentle Face and Body Scrub 1 cup almond meal (left over from the plain almond milk) 1/2 cup oatmeal (coarsely ground) 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil 1 tablespoon raw honey 1 cap vit e 2 drops organic Rose otto essential oil 2 drops organic Neroli essential oil enough fresh almond milk to make a paste consistency Mix gently. Keep refrigerated Almond Peppermint Body Cleanse & Scrub 1/4 cup Sweet Almond Oil 1/2 cup Almond Meal 1/4 cup fresh Almond Milk 3 TB Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap Moisture Mask 2 tablespoons Rose or Green Clay 1 Tablespoon Honey 1 drop Geranium essential oil 1 drop Palmarosa or Rose essential oil Mix with a small amount of plain (almond and water only) almond milk to make into a paste Remove before completely hard with water, and use a *moistutizer ( *try mixing 2 tablespoons of Jojoba, a teaspoon of infused calendula, 1 vit e cap, and 1 drop Rose and 1 drop Sandalwood for a wonderful easily absorbed moisturizer for your face- use 1-2x daily after washing) Yes, these recipes can be made perfectly well w/out the essential oils...but much lovelier with!
