Hi An-Marie,

How about fresh organic juices? Make a smoothie out of some fruit or a nice tomato based drink in the afternoon. Make drinking them a game - "we can only drink these if we're under a cozy blanket and reading a book!" Or whatever... just not enforced.

There's also dried fruits - apricots, raisins, ...

On the grains, switch her to sprouted bread, tortillas and rice, and let her have as much as she wants. Also try sprouting some pinto beans and making refrieds, or other types of beans. The regular, unsprouted grains are just plain bad. I wouldn't worry about her aversion to meat, though. If you can get some fresh fruits and veggies in her she'll be fine. (Meat is very acid and mucous forming in the body, and if not pure organic it contains all sorts of other nasties which are just better avoided.)

She may have a fit for a while but if she gets hungry she'll eat what you have around. Just make sure it's good stuff. She won't let herself starve. She's still quite young. If you can make the switch now you'll be better off later. Unfortunately I just made the diet changes myself last summer and my daughter is 9 yrs old. Her diet is not as much under my control now as it was when she was 2! Wish I had done this a lot sooner! :)

You didn't mention any health problems your daughter has, so I'm assuming she's healthy. Your daughter's tastes are likely to change dramatically over the coming years, so you will have plenty of opportunities to work this out with her. My daughter is getting to the point now where when I talk with her about the things that bad food causes and how good food helps our bodies, she makes a rational choice sometimes to eat the right thing. Not always! LOL! But, it's progress. You have plenty of opportunities with your daughter and her diet. Relax, enjoy the time that she's young, because it doesn't last long! I feel for you!! Hang in there!!

Love,

Kelli

Hi Kelli,

Thanks for the advice. However, I am jumping up for joy when she eats 1/2 an apple a day. Nope, she won't touch any fruits, not even bananas with the exception of apples

Kelli,

Thanks for the good advice. I got some organic fruits and veggies today to start her on her juices in the morning. I don't think I'll be successfull, but I'll have to keep offering and letting her see me drink.

Can you clearify the term SPROUTED. How do I find that?

Both my kids are very healthly. My 9 month boy will practically eat anything I give him, so I'm starting him off now, before I have to go thru this again. His taking Total Nutrition every morning and loves it.

Hi MJD,

Thank you, that really helps. I've cut all sugar and junk food. I know it will be important for her. Since I was a child, my mother never gave me candies or junk food. I used to live in Tahiti, so I'm used to the natural raw veggies and fresh fish daily. Steak on occassion. I know how I am now, that's why I want to start my kids off to a good start, but I find it harder that I thought. Every advice and help that I've been getting is so much appreciated. I don't think I could have gotton off the stress without everyone's help on this site.

Thank you everyone for your support. It really means alot.

Hi An-MarieI just wanted to give you support during this. I know it's frustrating and I wanted to share with you my experience as a child. My father was a military man turned police officer. We were raised on fresh fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods. To this day, I still have vivid memories of Cod Liver Oil in the morning before school. It did not come in capsules then :-) My sister and I could go through a gallon of milk in a day and loved salads. (He didn't know the dangers of store milk then). Quite frankly, the only time we got sugar, candy or junk food was when our mother would sneak it to us when he wasn't looking. She grew up in a large family and if you did not eat 2-3 plates of something, you were classified as "starving yourself." Interestingly, my siblings and I were the only

thin kids in the family and called "unhealthy" constantly.I was one of few that ate healthy in the dorms. I just never had a 'craving' for the junk because I wasn't used to it. Even if I tried a chip or bite of a hamburger, I could walk away. (I was teased relentlessly though and was not popular). I honestly believe the side effects and after-effects of medical mistakes would have killed me if I did not start out relatively healthy. Please try not to worry. Even though it's frustrating now, what you are doing for your daughter will last a lifetime. It is setting up healthy habits she will fall back on easily despite any environment in which she finds herself. I wish you both well. All the best, mjdFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2.
