Yes, celery is a diuretic and laxative and also good for breaking up

gallstones, healing wounds, and soothing irritated nerves. It is also

helpful in treating respiratory illnesses like asthma and bronchitis.

It's active ingredient, coumarin, has been shown to lower blood

pressure in patients with hypertension by up to 14%. Celery is also

effective in preventing colon and stomach cancer, supporting the liver,

and treating arthritis and rheumatism.

It's also known to help curb the appetite, making it ideal for people

who want to lose weight.

It's also known to calm the nerves.

I eat celery every day. Usually 2-3 stalks. I use it in raw soups and

juices and one of my very favorite raw snacks/ meals is:

Mix Raw Almond Butter and Organic Dates (fairly equal amounts, more

almond or to taste)

Just mash well with a fork. I like the rolled dates available at Whole

foods in the produce section- the ones in coconut. Anyway, mash

well...add a sprinkle of cinnamon if you like and

eat it on celery sticks.

This is addictive. It tastes much better than it sounds and travels

well as a box lunch.

Your kids will (maybe!) love it too.

To your health,

Elizabeth
