Guest guest
According to Michael Bender, executive director of the Mercury Policy Project, levels of the neurotoxin mercury in the larger predator fish--including tuna, shark, swordfish, king mackeral, or tilefish--are more dangerously high than the FDA is letting on. Bender blames the FDA for not adequately informing the public about the dangers of eating big fish, which carry concentrations of methyl mercury in their flesh. Methyl mercury is a by-product of smokestack emissions which accumulates in the tissues of fish and animals, including humans. Solution: Advocate for more stringent emissions standards for factories and avoid eating predator fish.
