Let me put it this way: Most veterinarians today don't give pred to their patients.

Herbal Remedies - Prednisone

I've been reading the "mono" posts and see the girl is being treated with Prednisone. I'm not very familiar with allopathic medicine, but I recently attended a workshop which mentioned this drug and according to the presenters, it should only be used in a last ditch, life or death situation. What they said is that Prednisone destroys the adrenal system. And once that is gone, you are basically an invalid for the rest of your life because you will spend your remaining years battling one infection after the other and never fully recovering from anything. Just like to get some feedback from the folks here on this drug and to find out if allopaths routinely give kids something this harmful.Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. If you are pregnant, consult your physician before using any natural remedy. 3. The Constitution guarantees you the right to be your own physician and toprescribe for your own health. Hi Keridwen...

Well, I would say that kids are often given steroids...I know my daughter was routinely given Prelone (for asthma). Every child I know that has any type of respiratory condition is given Prelone....and it adds weight unscrupulously!!! Increases the appetite beyond understanding....I will NEVER allow any of that to be given to my kids again...only the oldest has had to suffer...and my youngest...probably because I stay away from vaccines and doctors for the most part...doesn't have any chronic conditions...but then again..my youngest was breastfed..my oldest..formula...and she is the one with asthma, food and seasonal allergies, weight issues, SEVERE acne, and a host of other problems...didn't help she started menstruating at 9. Off topic again..sorry..but like I said..everyone I know that has a child at one point or another had to give them either prednisone, or a med that was in the same category. Any sort of inflammation...they give pred...after a vet

gave one of my dogs pred (he had VEY BAD arthritis)..and I saw what happened to him, I was convinced, it is poison. Interesting..I was told that it was a last resort med too, but it was ALWAYS the first Rx on the prescription to take to the pharmacy....hmmmm...In Health...

Oh heck... meds today... when I was 19 and got strep throat, the university doctor had to wait for the cultures to come back but meantime told me to go home, sent a note with me, to take a shot of bourbon whiskey before I went to bed and in the morning.. and to gargle it also... He said sip it down slowly... Oh man... that was rough....first time I ever had alcohol straight... I used to get sips of my grandfathers "highballs" but that was it...

This was on Thurs.. byMon when the cultures were back my throat was getting much better.

Hi I am Cantuckee. I am new and really just listening for now.

I took Prednisone for 3 months. It plunged me into early menopause (33 yrs old) although I did get it under control. Sucidal thoughts contiinual crying and severe depression. I now have fibromyalgia and candida in the blood. You can guess the rest.
