Guest guest
Hello, Have been following the chiropractic thread & was wondering about The Activator you referenced. I think this could have saved me from the pain I am going through since my last adjustment over a month ago. I am " pear shaped " & very small breasted with slender neck; collarbones & breastbone very visible. When lying face down on table for adjustment this " bony area " in in direct contact with table, naturally. Although my chiropractor says lumbar spine is my problem [have been seeing him over 1-1/2 yrs] the last visit he also " walked his fingers " up my spine & between shoulder blades gave me a totally unexpected, quick hard push. I believe he misjudged how hard to push because of my excess weight - not taking into account that it is mostly below the area he was pushing on!!! Would The Activator have avoided that? [never heard of that instrument so unfamiliar with it's use] The crack was like a firecracker going off in the room & I let out a scream of pain & am NOT exaggerating when I say that I literally saw stars**** He had to physically turn me over as I could not move & could hardly breathe. Thought for sure he had cracked a rib or " something " ! He got nurse to ice me front & back for 10 minutes then told me to go home, take ibuprofen & keep icing. [Trying to shorten this :-)] but within the week pain worsened & ended up having x-rays & MRI... BUT primary doctor ordered these done of back! Also scripts for anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxer [$100.00 I could not afford!] They of course " ranout " and now strictly relying on " Bio Freeze " , ice, ibuprofen & had one massage that did help for several days. Tried to explain to my primary that the back pain from adjustment is lessening & NOT the main concern - it is the deep throbbing ache & pain in center of chest, over & under breasts & around sides of chest wall. My whole rib cage feels like it shifts every time I change position in bed. Pain is bad trying to lie on either side...afraid to go back to chiropracxtor & can't believe that he never even called to check on me even after I reported to his nurse the problems I was having! What could the problem be and what tests might show it??? Is it possible that some muscle or ligaments were torm in chest & would echo, sonogram or other test show soft tissue damage? If there was, can anything be done or is it just " wait 'til it heals " type of situation? I know muscle damage can take several months to repair :-( Really don't know who to turn to anymore for answers. Any guidance or hints as to how to progress from here would be greatly appreciated. [Really sorry this is so long, but figured you'd need some particulars to make a judgement.] Many Thanks, Myrna
