Marcela, I have gone to Chiropractors for many years off and on and my experience is that you need to continue going. My opinion is that as with other problems with the body, it didn't take you a short time to get your spine in a lowered condition, and now that you are getting it fixed, the headaches are from release of negative energy that was built up through the years. I would look at that as a good sign, the body is healing. The same happens to people doing cleanses and they may get a headache, stomachache or whatever, that is all just from detoxing the body and getting healthy. The way out is the way through, so to speak. Have you done any cleanses? Also, it is a good idea to drink plenty of pure water throughout the day along with a healthful diet.

You are probably releasing toxins from your body as a result from the treatment. drink lots of water to help rid yourself of said toxins and you should feel better in a few days.

Also, drinking lots of water helps to lubricate the muscles

I dont usually like to contradict people, but i just have to disagree

with you on this one.

Her husband has been going to the same Chiro with great success.

Every person does not react the same to chiropractic treatment (just

like in herbal medicine)

I have been using chiropractors for over 20years and when I have had

an injury or trauma, they have recommended several consecutive

visits at first and then less frequently as i made progress.

I too have experienced headaches when I went for neck related

treatments, and as the stress and tension were released I began to

feel much better with each followup visit.

The recommendations to drink lots of water were on the money, and i

would also recommend trying to take it easy at least one hour

following each treatment, and longer if posssible. I found that if i

returned to work or sat in traffic follwoing a treatment, the stress

just about negated the treatment. I tired to make mine on a Friday

afternoon and then went straight home and rested for a bit. I know

this is not always possible, but do the best you can.

And lastly, talk to your husband and the Chiropractor about the

headaches, it may be that your treatments are actually on-track and

that is why you are getting the headaches. Of course a second

opinion is always good, but you have only been seeing him for a week.

trained to stay in the correct place, just like the bones. I have

found a wonderful chiropractor, and he is now our 'regular' doctor if

we ever do need to go in for anything. Two years ago, I was in a

roll-over accident which caused a broken collarbone, four broken

ribs, and a badly dislocated shoulder. Even though I didn't go see a

doctor for six months, he fixed all the problems in two visits. Just

make sure you find a good one!

I decided to watch for replies to

this post before I said anything. And I have to tell ya, I am so inspired

by all your beliefs and experiences with this great healing art.

I agreed with what was said about

having headaches INITIALLY, but I have to go along with Carrie Ann’s

response the most. A headache, maybe after the first adjustment, but

ongoing, I don’t think so unless that was part of the original list of

symptoms, which it wasn’t in this case. MAYBE, if you had a history

of a period of headaches, then the first week of care might bring them back if

they were related to the spinal imbalance but any longer is not good. Unless

the headaches are diet, etc. related then……

Also, going 3x/week for more then 2

weeks, is too much. Your spine should be stabilizing by the end of the

second week and number of treatments should be reduced UNLESS, you are doing

some kind of physical labor that is constantly interfering with your body’s

healing.

Another thing that would require

perhaps a month of 3x/week is if you’re grossly obese. But in a

month’s time you should have been able to drop upwards of 15+ lbs. if you’re

really wanting to get better.

One other thing that might require

the month of 3x/week is extreme mental stress, but again you should be handling

this and not depending totally on adjustments for recovery. And the Chiropractor

should be emphasizing these elements of your recovery and not leading you to

believe that the adjustments will take care of all of it. IT WON’T.

The adjustments if some of these

other problems are present will be about 20% of your total health care

picture. The other 80% is your responsibility through diet changes and

stress management which includes exercise appropriate to the injury!!

Please let us know how you’re

doing. And more questions are always welcome!

I suggest you find a different Chiropractor. You

should not be having headaches of any sort. And, you should not ever have

to go 3x a week for any length of time. Make sure you have a chiropractor

who works with your muscles as well, because the muscles also need to be

trained to stay in the correct place, just like the bones. I have found a

Hey Carrie Ann :)

Not quite. Different ppl have different results and different initial

reactions. Just because one person's initial reaction to a remedy

brings on a negative symptom doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad

remedy. For example, I'm sure The big 24-day Cleanse feels really

rough for a while, right? (Haven't yet done it, fixin to soon.) But

that discomfort is GOOD, it means the body is ridding itself of toxin

and that doesn't always feel pleasant. But it is necessary. It

doesn't mean we shouldn't do the cleanse. It means ride it out and

see what happens. Likewise, some ppls' spines are so messed up that

they may actually feel worse for a while. This's because the body

gets used to that screwed-up position. It should subside in a bit.

Sometimes the pain is a sign that the chiropractic adjustments are

working.

In love & light,

OK, so it appears we’re working with

some compromised health issues. The recent surgery. That’s pretty

serious. And explains the headaches, lots of toxins being eliminated. I really

don’t know how that would affect your ability to respond to adjustments

but I’m sure it is. The stress too is a consideration as is the extra 20

lbs. Adipose tissue holds toxins. I’m wondering how you had that

kind of surgery and got away from the MD’s without having to take any

drugs. Of course I know nothing about such a procedure or the outcome of

it.

Without the benefit of a physical exam, I would

probably recommend 3x/week for two weeks and then re-evaluate and expect

another 2 weeks of maybe 1 to 2 times a week. And if you start holding

the adjustments, your treatments would reduce accordingly and you would come in

maybe every 2 weeks for a month and then 1/month for awhile, maybe 3

months.

Keep in mind, I use the Activator Methods technic

which does not require torquing the spine before the adjustments so the spine

is not stressed as much and stabilizes much quicker. When I started using

this technic, the number of treatments needed was sometimes reduced by 50%.

And a lot of my patients who were coming in 1/month needed only to come in 3 or

4 times a year. The Activator is a hand held instrument and is used to

adjust the spine rather then using the hands directly. It takes the guess work

out of how hard to push on the spine. Your Chiropractor probably has one and

maybe uses it sporadically. I use it exclusively and that’s why I get

the quicker results.

And the recommendation all along would be

to do a cleanse. The juice cleanse if you need to try one on but the

total body cleanse is really what’s needed. What’s left of

your liver would love you forever as the liver is known to regenerate if

treated well J

Hope this helps!

Anna, beware of Chiropractors posting on newslists LOL

I really thank you very much for taking the time to answer my

questions.

I had my surgery exactly 7 months ago and although I had some

headaches before the surgery they had completely gone away till now

that I started the chiropractor tratments, and also the headaches

now are a little different.

As far as my weight, I don't think that I am 20lbs overweight, maybe

on the charts, but i would look very sick at 115lbs, maybe 10 lbs

and that would be pushing it. I don't look fat if you look at me,

but I know I am a little overweight.

Of course I got 20 different prescriptions from the doctors, but I

have decided to take control of my health and do without the drugs

that will eventually harm my liver even more and only give me side

effects. As it turns out, my body has responded great without the

drugs and I feel better than I have in years.

I did a cleansing with just juices a few months back, but I have not

tried the one suggested here, I should probably do that.

I will give this treatment a little more time and see how I feel. I

do find that I feel better when I drink more water. This is my

second week, so maybe next week I will just go twice and then I will

talk to him to see if we can reduce the visits a little.

Again, I want to really thank you for all the great information you

have given me!
