link between PCBs in fish and low thyroid??

Hi y'all,

Got a hypothesis, let me know what you think.

As some of you know, I have a hypothyroid. This is one of those

things I NEVER thought would happen to me, since I've always had high

metabolism, almost always had a slender frame, and I'm constantly

eating. A slow thyroid is the LAST thing I ever thought I'd encounter.

After my naturopath told me that there are PCB (polychlorinated

biphenyl) compounds in the feed of farm-raised fish (which I consumed

regularly until I heard this) and they're carcinogenic, I decided to

do a little research on my own as to exactly what PCBs were and what

they did.

In my digging, I found that they've been numerously linked to

thyroid problems, particularly DEPRESSED thyroid function, and

especially in women. (I've been eating this type of fish for almost a

year and a half. I have, as of a week ago, ceased this, and have

started substituting wild salmon and other wild fish instead.)

(I will be starting on The Cleanse to help jumpstart restoration of

thyroid function in spring/summer when my chances of staying with it

are better. But I think that if I don't find the CAUSE of the problem

in the first place, I'll quickly negate the health I will have worked

so hard to gain and it sort of defeats the purpose.)

Do any of you have similar stories? Have any of you heard about

this kind of thing? I'm curious as to what info y'all might have.

Love to all,

--Jen

PS: Kelli, you mentioned you had a thyroid problem before you did The

Cleanse :) Was (farm-raised) fish a part of your diet, too, or might

it have been caused by something else?
