I found that when i started taking Blue Green Algae and Spirulina

(Pre-cleanse) that i seemed to feel better and was able to eat less.

I also dropped a couple of pounds, not much, but definitely

something. Hubby thought my Thermogenics had been kicked-up a notch,

so maybe there is something to your theory. I would think that the B

made a difference as well.

If you were hypothyroid however, you would not gain weight slowly, it

would start and like a runaway frieght train, keep coming. Everone i

have ever talked to with Hypothroid has said the same thing. example

is i am 5ft tall and weighed 115lbs, within 6 months i had gained 20

lbs, and 1 year later another 10, by the end of the second year i was

up to 155. Not sure how tall you are and how much you weighed before,

so those would be factors to consider.

I would have my levels checked again if i were you, and if they say

that they are not normal...DO THE CLEANSE ;o) hehehehe Stay on the

kelp for now, because that will help and check your diet?

Once i finish the cleanse i intend to check my T-levels and then i

will probably do so from time-to-time just to keep myself honest. I

know that i can never go back to the way i was eating before, so that

is why i said check the diet, as i know understand just how ciritcal

this is.

Probably way more than you wanted to know?

since then, and my body temp tends to run on the low side, usually

around 97 or so. I have a tendency to be cold when everyone around

me is warm or even hot. What I'm wondering is if maybe my thyroid

has become a little sluggish.

Was it my imagination, or could the kelp have kicked up my

thermogenics with just one dose? And what effect is it likely to

have from here on out?

I thought I'd add my thoughts :)

I was recently diagnosed with a hypothyroid/slow metabolic rate. (By

an ND, NEVER an MD.) I show every sign EXCEPT weight gain. I'm about

almost 5'7 " and 125-130 lbs. Ironically, I maintain a steady weight

after DROPPING 20-25 lbs over a year ago.

I do have the cold body temp, dry skin, and lack of morning energy,

though. Coldness is by far the most persistant affliction,

particularly in my hands and feet. Niacin did not help, even though

it often does. Cayenne is good for the circulation, but I found it

only made my skin even drier, which I can't stand either :) (My skin

is so dry that sometimes I have problems getting a grip on my sheets

to straighten them out when preparing for bed!)

However, my thyroid condition has gone hand in hand (caused by or has

caused, I'm not sure) with a mineral imbalance, so I'm supplementing

with deficient minerals and trimming consumption of foods that are

high in the minerals I'm excessive in. :)

I encourage anyone and everyone to get a quality, reliable hair

analysis. They're admissible in court (at least in Texas, I don't

know one way or another about other states) and my results explained

a lot of my mysteries. :) (Some think a urine test is more accurate,

but that's short term and easily manipulated. It also describes what

is LEAVING the body, not what's IN the body, affecting one's system.)

Just my two cents. :)

Love to all,

Your lucky Jenny, everyone else that i know or have talked to about

Hypo-thyroid gained, and gained ALOT. I too have the cold hands and

feet, and sometimes leg cramps which are also common Hypo Thyroid

complaint. The dry hair and skin is also a common symptom as well a

losing or cycling hair more often than before the diagnosis. The

draining, sluggish feeling never went away (until now).

But with all the supplements that i have taken to combat the effects

of that sluggish thyroid, none have really addressed the real

problem. The problem is that my thyroid was once healthy or at least

in better condition that it is now, as was the rest of my body and

it's functions, and that i can fight the battle with supplements but

until you start with a clean slate, it's like you never gain any

ground. You have to jump start that body with an overhaul

The more i read, the more it became obvious to me and hubby that more

drastic measures were required, at least to start with. Doc's

article on the dwindling spiral of health was just the bomb i needed

under my behind to get me in gear.

Anyway, my ultimate advice to Wordweaver is, dont be afraid, the

first 2 weeks really were not bad. In fact, the angony of starting

the cleanse was much worse than acutally doing it! It's just a matter

of changing the way you think about what you eat and how, and

realizing that you can eat well and feel good, or eat poor and feel

Terrible.

Hubby and i have even made a commitment to do the cleanse again later

this year just to be sure my thryoid doesnt think it can go back to

it's old ways!
