Guest guest
Tessa, I garden in zone 3 (northern Minnesota). Here's my take on the plants you mentioned: Comfrey, common (Symphytum officinale) - very hardy! Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) - difficult to grow. I haven't been able to keep it more than 2 years. Menthol plant (Mentha spicata), usually sold as spearmint - very hardy! Bergamot panorama (Monarda didyma). Easy to grow; beautiful! Southernwood (Artemisia abrotanum). It does fine if the winter temperatures are not severe; otherwise it dies out. It might do okay in zone 4. Stevia rebaudiana - grow as a houseplant. To keep the plant alive, do not allow it to flower. Snip off a leaf as you need it. Sea onion (Ornithogalum caudatum ) - houseplant. Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) - In my garden, does the same as southernwood. Sometimes it makes it through a winter, and sometimes not. Hope you're having as much fun as I am!
