Guest guest
One important factor having to do with deodorants, is that the reason we "stink" is largely because of bacteria. The more unhealthy we are, the more bacteria can exist on our skin and especially in the moist areas such as the arm pits. Alcohol kills bacteria, and so is important in any natural formula. You can take 40 Proof Vodka, and put it on your armpits (yes it'll sting ;o), and the stink will disappear. Of course the healthier you are, the harder it is for bacteria to live on you, and the less you aromatize the area around you ;o) You could whup a batch of Mint Tincture and that would work wonders. The more you cut it with distilled water, the less it'll burn, but the less effective it would be. You could add a little Tea Tree Oil to this, and you'd have a doozey of a formula. I use one of the Terressential Formulae once in a Blue moon, and the rest of the time use nothing as I don't really have to. Most of the time I use it is when I'm in a hot tight situation or a meeting, and it works great. They make great recipes and they are all certified organic. I've tried the other "natural" deodorants but find they feel "sticky" and I don't like that feeling. The mineral salt deodorant works great for me! I appreciate the research!! :)Kelli Don Quai [mysticalherbalist] Monday, January 26, 2004 11:32 PMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - Re: Homemade deodorant Hi Kelli, Here is some info on Potassium alum as opposed to aluminum chlorhydrate (used in mainstream deoderants):
