It sounds like he is having a bad reaction to the formula. Is this a soy formula? Better to use this formula:

Take 15 ounces of barley water

10 ounces of homogenized milk

3 ounces of Karo syrup

To make:

Put 1/2 cup of pearl barley into a piece of muslin and tie it loosely to allow for expansion of the barley. Then slowly boil the barley in about 4 pints of water for 6 1/2 hours. Then mix as above and feed your baby. Mix this fresh every day. and keep cool. Just heat to body temp and give to your baby.

Or... you can boil a small amount of slippery elm bark and pour off the liquid then add karo syrup to the liquid to sweeten it and give to your son. Got to be better than The Formulas on the market.

Herbal Remedies - new here and help?

HelloJust a quick intro, I now a stay at home mother with an 8 month old son. I started using herbs maybe 10 years ago when doctors caused a lot of problems for me. But i didn't start making my own tinctures until a year ago. I study Dr Richard Schulze's stuff and want to read more about what the late Dr. Christopher has to say. Right now my son has 2 ear infections, and some sinus and maybe some lung stuff. He's coughing quite a bit, but i think it is the sinus drainage. I do breastfeed, but-- a long story i've had to supplement quite a bit with formula, so he doesn't get much milk from me.Any suggestions? I've tried a few things and he seems better today, but i'm just guessing as to what i should do. ThanksHope

Have you tried the ear formula in the files? Also for sinus, total tonic is good.. are you taking it..... (if you are breastfeeding)... plus adding a bit or echinacea into the formula might be good. There is also a "dosage" formula in the files under Dr.Ian Shillington so you will be able to give the right amount.

A vaporizer with ecualyptus, tea tree and peppermint would be good also.

Hi Suzi, Would any "warm mist" vaporizer work, or is there a special kind for this application? Are the eucalyptus, tea tree and peppermint essential oils?

Thanks :)
