Herbal Remedies - BF&C formula

Hi Carolyn,

That depends on how you wish to use it. You can either prepare it as a tea (infusion), tincture with alcohol (best) or ACV although it is not normally used as a tincture, or make into an ointment/salve. You can also powder the herbs all up together and cap them for internal use as well.

It all depends on what your use is. Personally, if you have enough of the herbs I would make a tincture, salve and cap some up. That way you cover all the bases.

Do you have a crockpot or slow cooker? If you do then gently (on lowest setting) heat the herbs in the olive oil for 4 hours or longer. Then strain and return to the pot and add in some beeswax. How much beeswax? I believe, and I would have to look it up cause I don't have it here right now, it is 1 ounce of beeswax (30gm) to 480 ml. of oil. Now you might have to adjust this up of down depending on how thick or thin you want your salve.

Don't have a slowcooker, use a large clear glass bottle with a wide mouth and place all inside and put in the sun for two weeks. This will infuse the herbs into the oil. Then strain and place on very low heat over your stove and add the beeswax until melted. Then allow to cool somewhat and pour into your containers that you will be using. Not aluminum.

You can also do this on your stove if you have a double boiler set up. Bain Marie method.

I don't know specifically what salve you are speaking of, and haven't checked out the message number Suzi posted, but I can tell you that I make a cayenne salve using olive oil, ceyanne, habeneros, garlic, and bees wax in our crockpot. Leave out the bees wax, and it makes a great food topping. But it is fantastic for aching joints, muscle pains, bloated stomach, sore feet, etc.

Naw, I cut up about half a dozen habs, half a dozen cloves of garlic, about a third cup of dried ceyanne, then enough olive oil to cover it for a couple of days in the crock pot. I just got a mini crock pot that I just love to use for this sort of thing!!!! As for the beeswax, whatever of the oil is left after pressing and setting some aside for adding to my food, I just play it by ear.

Hi Carrie Ann,

You betcha. The crock pot is a wonderful way of making your infused oils before adding the beeswax.

Mostly with the problems now. The specialist is ordering up the results of my last liver biopsy, going to have them compared with the results of my next biopsy, sent to the Bay Area for review. Apparently this has been a problem for at least two years, and my previous doctor didn't catch it. The new doctors also say that they can't see any indication from my charts of Celiacs Disease. Defitely gluten intolerance and allergy, but no Celiacs, so I'm to be retested for that as well.

Well, I'm glad to hear it's no worse! I hope your appointment goes well next week. Can you believe this doctor??? Did the conclusions of your past doctors' care all deal with the problems you're having now, or is there more to it based on these charts? Wow, that is a handful to deal with! I still haven't gotten any appointment date yet. "They" are supposed to call me. I'll mention it today when I see my regular doctor.

As far as I am concerned, there are only two basic reasons to see a "regular" MD. One is for emergency situations (set bones, surgery, etc). The other is for diagnosis. ONce that diagnosis is achieved, kick the Dr to the curb!! And handle it naturally.

John, Two years?!? Wow, that's where I think I would have to be questioning 'why'. He should've caught that after two years! Amazing.....Keep us informed of the results of the biopsies. When do you have your next one?Carrie Ann
