Guest guest
How about some aloe vera gel? It is very gentle and soothing. Was the scarf synthetic material? Sounds like contact dermatitis. Janet - keridwen2000 herbal remedies Monday, January 12, 2004 9:59 AM Herbal Remedies - Skin problem I think I have a rash of sorts due to wearing a scarf during a long walk in cold weather and working up a sweat. I have clusters of small pimple like things filled with water. The clusters are so close that I have big red weals everywhere my scarf and hat were rubbing--which is most of my face. What is recommended to heal this unsightly mess? It doesn't appear to be getting any better. I've had similar stuff like this in the past, due to similar circumstances, but this time is much worse and is hanging on longer than normal. I'm presently using tea tree oil to keep the infection at bay, and I used some Dr. Shultz Anti-I, but that seemed too harsh and made it worse. Obviously, I'm doing smething wrong. Maybe I need something gentler? ThanksFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. Guest guest
This sounds like you are allergic to acylic fabrics.... not uncommon... I'm fairly sure the problem has to do with me sweating under it and it rubbing away at my tender skin. I'm trying to avoid going to the doctor to get a proper diagnosis, and I'm fairly sure this is just a temporary thing due to the scarf and hat--not some serioius disease. My feeling is that if I go to the doctor, I'm going to get a diagnosis of a rash and handed a prescription for some ointment. In other words, I'd be wasting my time and theirs. I picked up some calendula oil at the store along with a cream made of calendula, comfrey, and coneflowers. So will try that for now. It's hard to know what is best when presented with all the options at the store. The store clerk was pushing Emu Oil, but I've read that is pretty much marketing hype so I stuck with the herbal stuff. Keriherbal remedies , "Don Quai" wrote:> What fabric is your scarf made of? Guest guest
I have a problem wearing any synthetic fibers. The same rash happens but I have other triggers as well. What I use is ACV either put it on cotton balls and apply or take a bath with about 2 cups ACV in a warm bath. I was worried at first that I would stink like vinegar but you don't. Good luck with it though I know it sure is miserable! Guest guest
Keri, I cannot where acrylic at all. It may be that you will have to start looking at labels and getting cotton, linen, hemp, and other natural fiber sweaters and scarves. Many natural blend fabrics are machine wash now too and very comfortable. If the burning and itching gets really annoying, make a paste of baking soda and water - it is messy but takes the itch right out.
