Guest guest
Dear Aprilrainc1, Eliminate all other problems first: 1. No drinks within and hour of going to bed. 2. Go to the toilet last thing. 3. Don't overstimulate your mind with watching a violent or upsetting movie. 4. Raise the head of your be 2" - use wooden blocks - and you won't have to get up for toilet visits in the night. [Great in winter time, but as soon as the heat starts and my ankles swell - it's back to ground level!] 5. Have the room completely dark - no visible light source.6. Brush your hair for several minutes - very relaxing. 7. Lie on your back - if you have back pain - roll up a towel and put it under your knees - back pain stops in 15-20 minutes. 8. Have enough bed covers - not too much or too little. 9. If you listen to radio, turn it off as soon as you feel very comfy. I used to drink chamomile tea in the evening, but now I take melatonin. Guest guest
- Suzi, I do have chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia . I take no meds. Verry little caffenie, mabe a coffee from caribou once a week, no soda. I really don't eat any dairy. I don't do much exercise. Need to start riding my bike indoors. In the summer I am more acctive with gardening and take walks. Taking echinacea now for my cold, elderberry now. But that's it besides vitamins, enzymes, acidophilus. Have taken melatonin for sleep but doesn't work any more .Tried 5htp. Took a product called super snooze that has, valerian ,hops,scullcap,chamomile,calcium,mag,l- taurine.melatonin, in it. Doesn't seemto work anymore either. I also have problems with low engery. Guest guest
-- Oh yes , I have done the detox cleansing and has helped so much. Have much more energy and no brain fog , ache much less also. You all are so smart here ! I just checked out these boards a few days ago, was never here before. Have snooped around at a few boards but this is the one I like. Maybe I can get some tips from others with CF/FM. Thanks, April - In herbal remedies , Suzanne <suziesgoats> wrote: > OK, I know there are some members with fibro who will be able to help also... Have you ever done a cleanse of any kind?? Guest guest
April, Browse the files in HR... also do some searches for fibro in the message archives.... You may have to go thru a number of messages before you find an answer but there is info on it in the past messages.... and you'll get more answers probably tomorrow. OH and welcome to the group! SuziPS Try a 3 day juice cleanse and see if that helps any. aprilrainc1 <aprilrainc1 wrote: --Oh yes , I have done the detox cleansing and has helped so much. Guest guest
valerian tincture skullcap tincture It will also depend on why you are having trouble sleeping. The reason will help decide which herb is best. So, I don't know if those two really are for you, yet. You may want to take oatstraw tea during the day as well. This works over the long term, especially if it is due to nerves. herbal remedies , " aprilrainc1 " <aprilrainc1> wrote: > Need so advice on good herbs to take to fall asleep at night and stay > sleeping through the night. > Aprilrainc1
Guest guest
I am not suzi, but I have a suggestion for you. Perhaps there was something in the formula that didn't agree with you, but I wouldn't give up on some of the herbs there. Melatonin makes me feel tired and fatigued throughout the day. Valerian gives me anxiety. Yes, really. Some individuals are sensitive to it. In your case, I don't suggest using a formula at all because you don't know how you are reacting to the individual plants. I love oatstraw because you can take it throughout the day to help strengthen the nervous system. Nettle is wonderfully too. I would try each of the plants in that formula individual until you know what works and how you react to them. Sometimes taking one plant is more powerful than taking a formula with many. If I hadn't taken Valerian individually, I wouldn't know that it caused the opposite in me. herbal remedies , " aprilrainc1 " <aprilrainc1> wrote: > - > Suzi, > > I do have chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia . Guest guest
Hi April, I have Fibro also and I don't have all the answers to this illness but this is what I do to control the pain & fatigue. I cut out all sugar, junk food, coffee, tea and alcohol. I take the Total Nutrition in the files, that has helped with the fatigue. Exercize every day even if it's only a 20 min walk. Sleep makes a big difference with me...so regular bedtime every night. I've had to learn to control my stress....what I choose to dwell on and regular meditation. I'm sure the others with Fibro can suggest other things as well. Cal/Mag and a good multi 'B' vitamin during the day seems to help also. I have used valerian with good results except for the invariable headache, ' but that's just me. Kava kava is another herb of choice, in spite of the unfavorable press. My experience is that no one herb is sufficient to cure my insomnia bouts..usually it takes a return to a ' routine ' or at the least meditation before and after sleep. Guest guest
How do you select a cal/mag that the body can use? I make the lemon- egg, but someone told me that it is an incomplete calcium and the body need more than just that as a calcium supplement. Does someone know what they might have been talking about? herbal remedies , " Grady F.
