hardened mucus in chest?

Hey all,

As my cold works its way thru my system, I now have some kind of

buildup in my chest. No cough, no trouble breathing (surprisingly!)

but my voice is awfully low and raspy. This is bad, since I love to

sing. Yogi Tea used to make a GREAT Breathe Deep Tea that contained

ephedra (and ephedrine alkaloids) but even before the proposed

ephedrine ban, they took all ephedra components out. Does anyone know

of anything good that can CUT right thru whatever buildup (I think

it's mucus) in my chest? (I LOVE tinctures >;) but unfortunately I

don't have time yet to make my own, at least in this case :( )

Thanks y'all :)

Steam it out Jen. Take an old pot and boil some water on the stove.

Add to the pot some eucalyptus essential oil. Close your eyes, hang

your head over the pot with a towel draped over you to hold in the

steam and breath deep. If it is still stubborn after about 10 - 15

minutes of deep breathing, get a bud to beat on the left and right

side of your back just where the rib cage is. (Never let anyone beat

your back above the kidneys.) You'll cough that junk out in no time

(try to spit it out when you cough it up instead of swollowing it.)

Have fun expectorating! - dolly

If you have some tiger balm, apply a small amount to your chest. You

can also make an onion poultice (cut up some onion and fry it in a

pan, then put it between two sheets of breathable cloth, or one sheet

folded over)... you can also drink ginger tea, apply a linament made

from vinegar and a pinch of cayenne on your chest, drink peppermint,

sage, thyme or rosemary tea (or a blend of all three), or consume

something with horseradish. Steam is also good and you can put that

tea blend ) in a bowl of water and breathe in the steam.

Thank you thank you (and thanks to all who have previously offered

suggestions here as well)!! Lots of excellent options here, too.

Breathable cloth--is cheesecloth an example of that or am I off

base? :)

Thank you :)

Hi Jen,

If you can breathe through it then it is breathable cloth. LOL For poultice use people normally use muslin. Just make sure whatever cloth you use is 100% cotton, or wool, or juniper fibers or hemp or any of the other who knows how many organic fibrous materials exist in nature that man has yet to exploit.
