" Any law is a contract between two individuals. And is

agreed to be in the best intrest of both parties "

(William Jennings Bryan: Scopes trial. 1925)

ok folks,

I'm getting a little wrankled here. After spending the holiday with

family I get to stop and read thru a lot of stuff in the mail box

this am.

Now some moron wants to outlaw another plant....

My red-neck tells me that I don't care if a hundred or so people

torch themselves with concentrate of Whatever.

Be it petroleum at 75 miles per hour.

Be it grain and hops in the form of alcohol,

Be it cracked something in a little pipe.

be it some chemists nightmare in the form of PROZAC.

If that happends then it thins out the gene pool and gives Medico's

something to do,

Keeps hospitals running,

Keeps the cops with something to do,

& keeps one of these little brain banks from breathing up good air

and reproducing.

If you are stupid enough to over-do anything It could kill you.

Drink too much water and you are dead.

They don't have the fortitude to study the actual use of any herb

other than whatever they smoke, or used to smoke.

(even if they " didn't inhale " )

They don't, and won't ever see the beauty of a sea of aisan poppies

gently blowing in the wind.

I have a thought here. everyone on the list needs to think about

faxing or e mail your govenrment officials. They are elected. They

are subject to re-election and if each one of us tells someone else

then there are several votes involved.

write, fax or e-mail your congress and house of representatives.

Faxes are the best, will cost you a couple of dollars but piles of

paper still show that there are thinking people out there.

the E mail addresses are available to you at the following websites.

Fax numbers should be on the individual persons website page.

Ok, I don't agree with someone else telling me what I need or don't

need.

I will get off of my soap box and go down the road and help a

neighbor do his seed flats this morning, & If I'm toast for sayin

what's on my mind then please pass the jam, I needed a good suntan

anyway...... : )

be my bottle. My Choice. "

Herbal,

you got a first name??? anyway good thought... not to discourage anyone but I wrote letters to my reps and to no avail... Illinois has already banned ephedra... yep, we were one of I believe 3 or 4 states to start this . I think it needs to be in numbers for the reps to really take a look at it... now if you all want to try a petition that might do better... sending it to each of the reps.

First off: Herbal, you are right on! Damn straight. (I'm biased,

though, as I'm a fellow redneck lol :) Howdy!)

I got an elementary question. Forgive me for its density, but I've

all but given up on watching the news, as mainstream media bear

little real info.

Is ephedra banned in ALL states now? As in, Federally?

A petition's an awesome idea. Haven't started an online one before,

tho, and am unsure exactly how.

Again, plz forgive me. My head congestion got to my brain, too. :)

This may give you better insight. (although pro=ban). but what is most interesting is the last paragraph... take note of it.

FDA to Ban Ephedraby tgirsch

From the day late, dollar short file, the FDA has announced that it will ban products containing Ephedra: "The time to stop using these products is now," Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson told reporters.

The government has determined that products containing ephedra "present an unreasonable risk of illness or injury," said Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Mark McClellan.

Tuesday's announcement marks the first time U.S. officials have blocked the sale of an over-the-counter nutritional supplement. Unlike drugs, dietary supplements do not have to be proven safe before going on the market, but federal authorities can act to take them off the shelves if they are shown to be unsafe.

The larger issue, to me, is the loophole that allows naturally obtained ephedra (and other, similar things such as St. John's Wort) to bypass FDA safety standards because it qualifies as "food," even in pill form; meanwhile the synthetic form of ephedrine is regulated as a drug. That is a hole which desperately needs to be closed. But with the "natural medicine" movement having become a multi-gazillion dollar industry, this won't change without a fight. supervixen08 <supervixen08 wrote:
