Guest guest
I am having a problem getting into the archives right now. Could any of you here mention again the herbs that are helpful for quitting smoking? I appreciate any input. Phyllis

Guest guest
Lobelia is number 1 but here are the member contributions (i copied it for you Phyllis) Here are suggestions given by members over the years to help quit smoking from our message archives: Whenever you feel like smoking up, just take a dropperful of Lobelia tincture and the craving will go away. the one herb I'd recommend would be Lobelia (which is tremendous for all lung conditions), and this would be one of those herbs that his job would probably be somewhat, to some degree, effect his activity. Lobelia relaxes you, and this could be somewhat of a concern. It is the herb that would help with his lungs though. Lobelia did help me a lot, as well as passion flower, oats, american ginseng and angelica. Total Tonic!!! helps the lungs also. suggest the liver and gallbladder cleanse and the blood detox. Detoxifying ones liver and cleansing the blood will help reduce craving by flushing out the built up nicotine and other poisons associated with smoking. These can be found in the files Deep breathing! One of the things smokers lose when they quit is the constant deep breathing from smoking. It helps to get all the stagnant air out of your lungs either through exercise, meditation or yoga. There are some herbs that help. One is licorice root -- chewing on a little bit of it helps reduce the craving, and also helps clear junk out of the lungs. Lobelia has been a big help for some people -- drinking a cup of tea at a time when you would have ordinarily lit up can do wonders. But this should be done only once a day -- some people find that Lobelia makes them a little bit "high". a couple friends who swear by coltsfoot. In fact, one friend started mixing coltsfoot in with her tobacco (she rolled her own) and just slowly increased the coltsfoot and decreased the tobacco. It took several months, but eventually she was smoking only coltsfoot and no tobacco, and could then manage to get rid of the physical habit of smoking something pretty easily since she wasn't addicted to the coltsfoot. I do know that coltsfoot, when smoked, is soothing to the lungs. Find out what made the Top Searches of 2003

The formula is taken from " Herbs of Grace " written by Farida Sharan. The formula reduces the need for nicotine, alters taste cravings so that the desire for smoking is reduced.
