Guest guest
no.. unless you buy White Sage seeds : ) White Sage (Salvia appiana) is sacred and used to bring good spirits into the home or area after cleaning the home or person of evil spirits with cedar smoke, and is supposed to bring wisdom and strength of heart as well as physical strength. i have used it as a smudge and also as a seasoning. it is aso good for many ailments, rekief of cods for instance. i don't know if anyone else does or not. i never used it a lot for seasoning as i never had enough plants to waste on food when i had plenty of other sage to use : ) don't have any at all any more... miss it. most sage seeds at local markets are SALVIA OFFICINALIS, which is the sage we usually use for cooking and tinctures.hope this is helpful love.. granny lee - Tiffany Schaibley Re: [herbal remedies] Seeds/Sage Im interested in this as well...thanks for asking. Guest guest
Hi Tiffany, You do not want to use White Sage for flavoring your food. Trust me. It doesn't taste as good as the garden variety of sage. Keep the White Sage for smudging yourself and your home and use the other for herbal tinctures, infusions, and meal preps. Guest guest
White Sage grows very well in Santa Barbara and So. Cal. I don't know where else it grows or if it can be grown elsewhere. Might be an interesting experiment to try and publish ones results. What do you say Tiffany? Guest guest
DON,i grew some in zone 8 USA, but they didn't winter. a Cherokee gentleman sent me the seed and i had several plants at one time. last supply i got was some dried at pow-wows. i would like to try some more, but can't find the seed around here. i hear that the California grown (native to CA.,) is the finest but don't know. i would order some on the net, but the postage is probably bout 5$ for just one pkg!! (last time i checked) in most sites and i'm too stingy to pay 5 dollars for a 3 or less dollar pkg! duh.. can't help it.. raised during the depression! had to learn to be tight!!! heheheh!!! it does need good sun and good drinage, with light somewhat sandy soil; any where you can grow mediteranian plants you could probably grow White Sage. love.. granny ---- Original Message ----- Don Quai herbal remedies White Sage grows very well in Santa Barbara and So. Guest guest
Hi I have an Indian friend who says that white sage is for bringing in positivity. Before burning this you should burn rosemary or sagebrush to dispel any negative energies. Guest guest
Hello Carolyn, What I have used is white sage to disperse negativity, sweetgrass to bring in positivity and fern to do both.. Cedar is also used to repel negativity but doen't need to be burned to be effective. Indians have different tradition according to their tribes but what is important while you are burning these herbs is the intention. The concentration of what you desire to accomplish is more important than the kind of sage used or what herbs is burned during the ritual, I really believe after trying a few of their ritual that if the herbs is pleasant to you.. You will attain (sp) the desired effect. Guest guest
Yes you may and no that was not a dumb question. It was a question based on lack of knowledge. How could it possibly be dumb. The only dumb or stupid question is the one that never gets asked.
