to start, check out oregano, rosemary, thyme, chives , mints, sage, and if you can give them plenty of sun, water when needed, with good drainage, you should luck out.

i don't have much luck in the house, as not really enough light even with a 4 ft shop light, but grow well on patio and in the garden. Calendula is a lovely perenniel that could grow on the balcony in a pot. it is a good pot herb. many more.. ... when? when you can get them at a nursery or you can start them from seeds any time now indoors with good light.

[herbal remedies] Window Herb Gardens

 

I live in an apartment in the city. But I do have windows and a balcony. I would like to have an herbal garden...in pots and window boxes. What herbs do well in that environment and at what point in the year do I plant them?

love it.. had about a 6 foot circular patch one year, had all i needed, saved the seed (Coriander) and had plenty fresh until it bolted. haven't had enough since then to even make a salad and just gave up. don't know what i did right... don't know what i did wrong... not going to let it bother me, though.. LOLmabe i'll try again this New Year of 2004!!!!

It all helps and thank you! What about Cilantro? I LOVE fresh in mexican foods and such. I tried to grow it a few years back and wasnt successful...any suggestions?
