Peroxide. Medical grade peroxide. This will purify and oxygenate your hot tub. 35% medical grade hydrogen peroxide will do the job much better than bromine or chlorine and is completely non-toxic to healthy cells.

Do the research and see for yourself. Be wise and judicious in the use of it and you will derive much more benefits than a clean hot tub.

Does anyone have an alternative for chlorine or bromine in a pool or hot tub?

I am handicapped, and can barely walk, but I do have a hot tub, and use it to excercise daily. However, since becoming a part of this list, i am worried about soaking in chlorine daily. How can I keep the water crystal clear and germ-free without chlorine?

would an EO such as tea tree or eucalyptus work, moreover, would they be cost-effective for a 500 gallon hot tub?

I also forgot to mention, ozone, they make ozone generators for pools and hot tubs that will do the same thing as the peroxide will. Purify the water and keep it purified. You will also derive great benefits from the extra oxygen that your body needs. Who knows, might make a difference between sitting and dancing. ;-)
