Guest guest
Hello Jeni, As you may know, chocolate is one of the most common foods that trigger histamine release. The antigen, in this case probably a lectin found in chocolate, (or some impurity/additive), stimulated your body into releasing histamines, and other special chemicals, to try to attack the invader, the antigen. The reason your body, or a part of it, gets hot is due the increased blood-supply to support the immune-system in fighting the invader. Two of the more commonly used, and well-documented, natural anti-histamines are Quercetin (take 500mg at first sign of reaction, followed by 500mg every two hours until better) and Vitamin C (1000mg at first sign, followed by 500mg every hour until better). Hope that helps, Daniel C. Luthi Nutrition Educator
