Do NOT use any DMSO that is stored in Plastic!!!!

 

Most vets use this very inferior brand that is supposed to be 98 to 99% pure. It's that one to two percent that will do serious damage. DMSO will leech plastic over a period of time - even #1 and #5 plastics which are the primary plastics the inferior brands are stored in.

 

Use only USP Pharmaceutical Grade DMSO which is 99.99% pure, or you're asking for big trouble. Remember, DMSO will not only permeate any cell wall, it will also take whatever is mixed with it in there too which includes an herb or fuel oil. Never, ever use DMSO with dirty hands or in a poluted environment.

Dear Doc Anna,

 

Absolutely!!! Since DMSO will carry anything with it, this goes for external as well. I never use anything but the USP Pharmaceutical Grade regardess of whether or not it is internal or external. You can use the good stuff to get rid of any harmful effects of using the lower grade stuff though. Kinda like, "What turns it on, will turn it off" ;o)

Oh, golly, Doc, does this go for external use too? The only kind available in the local HFS is in plastic. Am I doing my patients harm recommending it? I've had some pretty good reports but surely don't want to do harm in the long run.
