Guest guest
Styes are an infection of the eyelash follicle caused by bacteria. Make sure you wash your hands before touching or rubbing your eyes.. Repetitive rubbing of the eye and nose can cause them... something with the nose bacteria to the eye... Some also believe that stress can cause them. Hi all, Got an issue that's been plaguing me off & on. When I was a kid, I rarely got styes (those little bumps that form right under your eyelid). If I did get one, it would go away quickly. About a year or so ago, I started getting them all the time, and sometimes 2 or even 3 at a time. They happen in both eyes. Sometimes they stay for up to a day or two. I haven't gotten one in a few months, until today. In case this helps, I'm about 80-90% vegan (and I depend heavily on wheat,What kind of wheat do you depend on? Is it sprouted? Is it Kamut? Spelt? which I suspect I may have a sensitivity to), though I did have some (organic 98% vegetarian-fed longhorn, hormone- and antibiotic-free) ground beef yesterday (with lots of green leaf lettuce, and chopped white onions and red peppers). Snacks lately include maple pecans. I do not have much dairy at all. The occasional cheese sprinkling and the occasional glass of milk are about all I have. (I will say, my parents were here for 3 days earlier in the week and we ate at Tex-Mex restaurants during that time.) My questions are these:1) Why might I get styes? Sties are another way the body throws off toxins. Any skin eruption is the bodies way of throwing off toxins. (And especially, does anyone know any possible reasons as to why one might get them constantly?)Your body is just getting rid of toxins. For some reason your body likes to use the eye lids to get rid of stuff. Dairy is probably one of the worst offenders along with the wheat. They create a lot of mucus as does meat and cooked foods. This is why it is preferable to eat strictly raw fruits and green leafy vegetables. They do not create mucus. Nuts, seeds, grains will create mucus if not sprouted. Once they are sprouted they become a plant and are much less mucus forming although they are still somewhat as they are such a potent food ( because they are not grown up yet).2) How do I take care of them? When you get them use a hot wash cloth on them. This will help to bring them to a head so they can drain. Then do a very thorough cleanse and change your diet. This means no dairy, no wheat unless it is sprouted spelt or Kamut. No nuts unless soaking them first for minimum of 8 hours and preferrably 12 hours. Do total body cleanse and then do the juice fast every month. This will help to keep you cleaned out so the toxins don't pile up. (I'm skittish about putting ANYTHING in my eyes...I'm not trying to be difficult but my fiancee is legally blind, so I'm the only pair of eyes in my household and I'm already night-blind, so naturally I'm extremely careful.) I truly hope this helps you out Jen. Another point I will make, you gonna keep mentioning a pain in your butt and you will get one. Best to talk about a good feeling in the fence post or something much more positive. I know what I talk about here as I used this expression all the time. After suffering numerous pains in the rear I have since changed my vocabulary to accomodate rocks, fence posts etc. Words and thoughts have the ability to create once they are issued forth. Gotta be careful how we communicate our thoughts and feelings. HTH, Don Quai Thanks, all! So (forgive me if this's redundant, I'm just clarifying for myself) if I'm right, a diet is supposed to consist of raw fruits and leafy veggies? Only? I mean, is there enough protein in that kind of diet to sustain myself? I can eat nuts as long as I soak them first, right? What about whole grains like brown rice and/or seeds, like sesame or sunflower? (I understand that while meat has lots of minerals and protein that the toxins it creates or already has outweigh the positives. But what about the non-animal foods that have so much protein, fiber, carbs, and a whole host of vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids, etc? It just seems really restricted and I'm only trying to figure out why our Creator would have made them so potentially beneficial for us if we're actually not supposed to eat them? Sorry I'm just confused.) And what about fish? I eat salmon from the health food store about 2x/week. And I'm having a lot of trouble finding wheat- and yeast-free bread. I'm trying to find sprouted grain bread, too, but haven't yet been able to. I'd LOVE to be able to make my own but I don't yet have any recipes, nor do I have a bread machine or anything (though I know that's not always necessary.) I do, however, try to rotate cereals, between corn-based, wheat- containing, and oatmeal (organic whole rolled oats). And I TRY to rotate breads, between regular 100% whole wheat and wheat-free-yeast- free spelt. I generally don't eat any meat except fish. Occasionally, I'll have beef but this isn't real often. I did have it for the first time in a long time the night before I got the stye, however. There's one clue for me When you get them use a hot wash cloth on > them. Guest guest
Hi Jen, Cows and elephants do not eat meat and they seem to be able to build masses of muscle without ever touching flesh. Why do we humans feel that we need to eat meat protein to survive? All the protein your body will ever need can come from the plant kingdom and you will never be left wanting. Quinoa is a complete protein grain. This means it has all the amino acids our bodies cannot manufacture by themselves. There are others. All the minerals and vitamins your body needs should come from organic sources, mainly the plant kingdom. Realize that all grains, nuts and seeds are extremely potent food sources and much too potent for human bodies. These foods were meant for those quick fast little critters like birds and small furry four leggeds. The ones whose metabolism is so fast that they need the high energy contained within the germ of each grain and seed and nut in order to have the energy their little bodies need. Humans should sprout them first to take the edge off that high energy. Our bodies are not made for such high powered starches. Yes, people eat meat and have for thousands of years. It is not the right diet for man, however. The right diet for man comes strictly from the plant kingdom. Animal flesh is for carnivores of which man is not. Has anyone ever seen an animal kill another animal and then cook it? Never!! They eat it raw. Why? Because they derive their sustenance from the living vital juices in the flesh that help them to digest the flesh. It would make much more sense to go out and kill an animal and then eat it right there raw. At least you will get all the nutrition and enzymes that will help you digest it. But our bodies are just not made to digest flesh. Our alimentary canal is way too long for this process. Same goes with dairy products. They are just too hard for our bodies to digest. Sprout those nuts, seeds and grains and make them suitable for your body. Eat those raw fresh organic fruits and green leafy vegetables. Your body will love you for it. You can purchase sprouted spelt flour. There is a link somewhere in the files, I do believe. There is nothing restrictive about this diet what so ever. Unless of course, you believe it to be. Fish, although still flesh is not the same as dry land animal flesh. Fish are cold blooded. Eating the flesh is still eating the flesh but it is a little easier to eat raw fish than a raw buffalo rump roast or raw cow's tongue. Also, cooked fish is easier to digest than other animal flesh because the muscles fibers are different. Fish flakes. Other animals are stringy with the exception of fowl. If you have to eat meat, make certain it is certified organic. If you have to eat dairy, at least make sure it is unpasturized organic dairy. Do sprout all your grains and nuts and seeds. Besides the way too high energy curve in this food there are also enzyme inhibitors which need to be neutralized before they neutralize your enzymatic processes. Another thing you might consider is the eyebright formula in the files for your eyes. I know you are very careful about what you put into them but I do believe you will find that there is nothing harmful in this formula. Even Doc will tell you this. I do hope this helps you understand some. I know it helps me to understand when I get long winded like this. I do apologize for writing the 26 volume Oxford Dictionary here. HTH, Don Quai Yes you can make your own bread and no you do not need a bread machine to do it. There are all kinds of recipes on the net for bread. Essene bread uses no yeast and uses the sun to bake it. No heat. It is a living bread, literally. Very good for your body too. All wheat flour is GM from back in the 30's with the exception of Kamut and Spelt. These are the original wheats that all others come from. - supervixen08 herbal remedies Saturday, December 20, 2003 6:40 PM [herbal remedies] Re: Styes? Guest guest
Hi Jen, You should always soak the nuts and seeds for a minimum of 8 hours to get rid of the enzyme inhibitors. Most nuts don't sprout very easily. Seeds, like alfalfa etc, they will sprout quite readily as will legumes. Grains should be soaked the minimum time as well. Some will sprout easily and some won't. With grains if you want to use them as sprouts it is better to go with them as a grass and juice them. (Wheat grass, oat grass, etc.) GM is GM. Even back in the 30's. Ever since modifiying the grain people have had increasing intolerance to wheat. More allergies. More every kind of problems. Before that most people had very little problems with spelt wheat or Kamut because these are the natural been growing this way for thousands of years without little bald headed men in spectacles wearing white smocks and carrying test tubes of gunk around in their pockets meddling with them. Sheesh. Now they want to poison us with RoundUp and who knows what else. I truly hope this clears some of the fog for you. Guest guest
Hi Jen, You can eat all the unsprouted nuts, seeds and grains that you want. Just be sure and soak them for minimum of 8 hours to disable the enzyme inhibitors first. Otherwise, well your playing with a loaded gun. Eventually it is going to go off and you are going to have some serious problems to deal with. As to how I know all this stuff? I am a voracious reader of anything having to do with philosophy, mysticism, herbal healing, natural healing, alternative therapies. I also spend enormous amounts of time contemplating life, reflecting and working through my beliefs to find the truth to what I have been taught. It I can't find enough truth to maintain that belief I will change that belief. I believe in ascertaining the truth to life no matter what. I have found truth in some of the most bizarre places and pieces of literature. Nothing could ever exist if it were a complete lie there must be some amount of truth to it. I study lots of books. I have been on this list for almost two years now and have learned more truth from Doc and others on this list than I can shake two sticks at. This group is awesome. My passions, if you will, is studying who we really are, why we are the way we are, and how we can go about bringing ourselves back to perfection in mind, body and soul. The body plays a rather large role in all of this as we are rather connected to them at the moment. I don't know if I answered your question or not. But hey, stick around on this list long enough and you will learn tons of new things. You might even change a few of your currently held beliefs along the way. As long as you are willing to seek the truth and not close yourself off to it, you will find it. Guest guest
Hi Jen, The only must have herbal books I have are: Dr. Christopher's School of Natural Healing Holistic Herbal by David Hoffman A Modern Herbal by Mrs. M. Grieve Culpepers Complete Herbal Elementary and Advanced Treatises in Herbology by Dr. Edward E. Shook Planetary Herbology by Michael Tierra Medicinal Herbs of the Pacific West; Mountains West; Desert and Canyons West by Michael Moore This is just what I have with me. My wife has lots in Slovenian language, which does me little good right now but at least I can read the pictures. LOL I have lots more at my home in Arizona. John Lust, Michael Tierra, Jethro Kloss, John Gerard and many written by those of the mystical arts or persuasion, if you will. I always have my eye out for good herbals. Especially written by those who have gone before. I enjoy much their writings. I would recommend the first three listed above. However, there do seem to be a lot of new writers out there who are coming out with some good ones as well. I just haven't personally read any of them so can't tell you about James Duke or any of the others. HTH, Peace and light, Don Quai - supervixen08 herbal remedies Sunday, December 21, 2003 5:05 PM [herbal remedies] Re: Styes? Hey Don You certainly cleared up a LOT for me. I really appreciate your taking the time to do so. That's really wonderful Looks like we're kindred spirits. What you wrote about your passions is identical to how I spend much of my day as well. I also seek truth no matter what and I form and change my beliefs in just the same way as you do. (This might be slightly OT, but as for finding out about who we are, have you read the book "The Book On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are" by Alan Watts? Written in 1966, the man is a visionary and IMO, he seems to be really right on! Great book ) Do you have any favorite, must-have herbal books? I'm always on the lookout for new ones and I have combed the archives of this board dating back to Day One and have amassed a list of titles so far, and was wondering if you had any to add or that you specifically recommended for me to start with. You certainly did answer all my questions (at least, for now, I'm sure there'll be more, I'm like a little kid right now ) and I thank you EVER so much for doing so. I'll be on this list as long as it's in existence. I love it!Peace & love,--Jenherbal remedies , "Don Quai" <mysticalherbalist> wrote:> Hi Jen,> > As to how I know all this stuff?
