cayenne salve

Coconut oil is supposed to be very stable, and not apt to go rancid,

even at room temperature. I have been reading good things about it on

the internet, but people in health food stores don't seem to know

about it's alleged value.. (Increased metabolic/thyroid function,

increased energy, doesn't get stored as fat, in the body, because

it's a medium chain fatty-acid, if I remember correctly..)

It could probably make a good salve, or could be combined with other

oils, if it's too thick, for other uses..

Coconut oil and olive oil. The only two oils that have been used for thousands of years by man and with such wondrous results. They both keep very well indeed and are both very healthy for our bodies.

Hello Don Quai,

I am using Grapeseed Oil for my massage oils with or without EO. Have some for more than 4 months and it is still very good. Maybe the trick here is to make small batches at a time? What do you think is better, beewax or shea butter or even just ''natural'' because the Grapeseed Oil as a good absorbtion all by itself, leaves the skins soft but not sticky. I give myself a massage (reflexology) on my feet almost every night to help with my circulation and I infused the oil with some Rosemary. But Cayenne would be a lot better I think not only for the circulation problems that I have but also for the pain. Now just have to be careful with the cats and dog around me. :-)

Hi Brigitte,

You can most likely use Grapeseed oil but I would check out the shelf life before you do. One of the reasons why Olive oil is used so extensively is because it is so stable and has a good shelf life (contrary to what some people say). In other words, it doesn't go rancid very easily.

Do check out what the shelf life is of the oil you plan on using before you use it and ruin a whole batch.

Grapeseed oil should be kept out of sunlight and heat. It does store well, though. Try sesame seed oil. It is very stable.

Depends on what your application is and what you want it to do. Cayenne would be good for pain and circulation yes. I don't know what that has to do with cats and dogs though. For just a massage I would just stick with the Grapeseed oil. you can probably even infuse some cayenne into it too. But Grapeseed oil doesn't like heat much nor sun. So you might be better using Olive oil and adding beeswax. Or maybe melt some shea butter and infuse the cayenne into that. When it resets it should be good to go.
